A latch, particularly for vehicle doors, includes a keeper for mounting on a door frame and provided with a recess. A catch for mounting on a door which is associated with a door frame includes a catch pin receivable in the recess and adapted for rotation about its axis. The catch pin includes an abutment face which cooperates with the keeper upon penetration of the catch pin into the recess to thereby prevent opening of the door.

The present application is a continuation-in-part of our copending application Ser. No. 667,717, filed Sept. 14, 1967 and entitled "Fastening Means for a Motor Vehicle Door," and now U.S. Pat. No. 3,416,826.
Disclosed is a mechanism for closing and locking two doors of the cowling of an aircraft engine. This mechanism includes a bolt which is received in a chamber of a receptacle. The bolt is connected to one door and the receptacle is connected to the other door so that, upon closure of the two doors, the bolt slips into the chamber. A cam attached to a rotary member housed within the chamber enables a single mechanic to close the doors and lock them snugly. This cam engages a finger on the bolt upon rotation of the rotary member which draws the bolt into the chamber by pulling against the finger. The cam moves into an over center position which securely locks the bolt in place without locking bolt travel. A locking device is additionally provided for locking the rotatable member in position when the bolt is locked in place. This locking device has a plunger which provides audible signals when the cam is in the fully opened position and when the mechanism is securely locked.
A lock for motor vehicle doors is described. The lock comprises a striker member arranged for engagement and disengagement by means comprised in a mechanism of said lock, the mechanism is supported by a first plate, and the striker member and means are disposed on a part fixed relative to the door and on the door respectively, or vice versa. The main feature of this lock is that said means comprise at least one pair of engagement members for said striker which are rotatable on pins, and the disengagement load exerted between said member and said means is opposed only by component forces passing substantially through the axis of said pins.
A striker assembly includes a reinforcement bracket having a threaded stud, a receptacle, and laterally spaced-apart opposed-facing cam shoulders. The reinforcement bracket is welded onto the vehicle body rear panel with the threaded stud at a precise vertical and transverse location determined by a locating fixture which seats against the compartment lid opening of the vehicle body. A striker bracket has the striker rod mounted thereon, an end which fits within the receptacle of the reinforcement bracket, and an aperture which fits over the threaded stud. Flanges bent from the striker bracket define cam faces which overlie the cam shoulders of the reinforcement bracket. As a nut is threaded onto the threaded stud, the striker bracket is forced into overlying engagement with the reinforcement bracket. The fit between the end of the striker bracket and the receptacle of the reinforcement bracket shifts the striker bracket in the direction to always maintain a contact between the threaded stud and the wall of the striker bracket aperture so that the striker rod carried by the striker bracket is precisely located in the vertical direction by the threaded stud. Simultaneously, the cam flanges of the striker bracket are forcibly seated on the cam shoulders of the reinforcement bracket to precisely locate the striker rod transversely with respect to the precise transverse location of the reinforcement bracket.
A power-closing bolt assembly for a motor-vehicle door latch has a housing, a bolt pivotal in the housing about a pivot axis between a pair of angularly offset end positions, and interengaging bolt and housing abutments respectively on the bolt and on the housing bearing angularly of the pivot axis on each other in each of the end positions. A drive displaces the bolt between the end positions. The housing abutments are spaced apart relative to the pivot axis by more than 180.degree..
