Abstract
In a falling film evaporator for separating or concentrating liquids, drops from the evaporator tubes fall onto and between parallel inclined baffle plates provided below said tubes and the inlet for a hot airstream, the inclined baffle plates minimizing the disintegration of the drops into smaller droplets and, by shielding them from said hot airstream, minimizing entrainment of said smaller droplets back up said tubes by said hot airstream.

5419814 - Thin layer liquid film type evaporator - Owned by Idemitsu Kosan Corporation Limited (Tokyo,JP) Tokyo Rikakikai Co., Ltd. (Tokyo,JP)

A thin layer liquid film type evaporator including a cylindrical heating column, a heater for heating the cylindrical heating column, a liquid film forming plate disposed in the cylindrical heating column, a baffle also disposed in the cylindrical heating column and a feed nozzle disposed at the upper center of the cylindrical heating column. The liquid film forming plate has an outer diameter such that a clearance may be formed between the outer edge thereof and the inner circumferential surface of the heating column and that the liquid may flow through the clearance. Thus, a thin layer liquid film type evaporator which has a simple mechanism and can exhibit excellent evaporation efficiency can be provided.

4394221 - Method of deodorizing and/or deacidifying high-boiling organic compounds, particularly edible oils - Owned by Firma Wilhelm Schmidding GmbH & Co. (Cologne,DE)

A method and apparatus for purifying (deodorizing and/or deacidifying) high-boiling, heat-sensitive organic liquids, the method including passing the impure organic liquid in counter-current flow to a carrier vapor of low molecular weight (steam) while the organic liquid is in the form of thin films falling through a multiplicity of parallel, vertically-oriented tubular flow channels, the inside diameters of the flow channels being between 34 and 72 mm, their lengths being between 6 and 16 meters, a heating medium also being present in association with the flow channels, the flow rates and temperatures of the various fluids being controlled to reduce the consumption of carrier vapor and provide a short thermal stress time for the organic liquid.

5573635 - Thin film evaporating device - Owned by Buss AG (Pratteln,CH)

A thin film evaporating device includes a housing defining a space for receiving a plurality of elongated tubular evaporators. An inlet is associated with the housing for feeding a flowable heating medium to the space for heating the plurality of elongated tubular evaporators.

4017355 - Process for treating latices - Owned by Nippon Oil Company Ltd. (Tokyo,JA)

A process for removing unreacted monomers or solvents from synthetic rubber latex or synthetic resin latex comprising bringing said latex into contact with an inert gas fluid at a temperature ranging from 40.degree. to 100.degree. C by feeding said latex into the upper part of a wetted-wall tower without imposing any substantial mechanical shear stress.

6391149 - Method and apparatus for concentrating a solute in solution with a solvent - Owned by Advanced Cardiovascular Systems, Inc. (Santa Clara, CA)

The present invention provides a method, and an apparatus, for forming a prescribed concentration of a substance in a mixture with a fluid, from a comparatively dilute mixture. The mixture is most preferably a solution of a solute in a solvent. The following summary and description generally discuss the invention in terms of a particularly preferred solution and a preferred use for that solution; however, in its broadest embodiments, the invention encompasses both the use for other solutions, and the use for a suspension of a solid substance in a fluid to form a mixture (which can also be referred to as a slurry). The invention provides for significant economic, safety and qualify benefits over conventional evaporative systems.
