Abstract
A dispensing unit for simultaneously puncturing a plurality of sealed pressurized containers so that each container has open communication with a common dispensing tube that in turn has a closed valve end which, when threadably connected to a hose, will dispense all of the pressurized contents of the containers.

4496081 - Dispensing apparatus - Owned by Fomo Products, Inc. (Akron, OH)

A dispensing apparatus to deliver at point-of-use chemically reactive constituents or foam reactants in a predetermined volumetric ratio. The foam reactants are prepackaged within replaceable pressurized containers carried by the apparatus and having projecting dispensing valves connected to a manually actuated dispensing nozzle through flexible tubing. The apparatus includes brackets for holding the top and base of the containers in side-by-side fixed relation, a T-shaped member for actuating the dispensing valves in unison, and a manual key with an elongated shank extending through bores in the brackets and the T-shaped member. The key shank and the bores are selectively threaded to provide opening or closing movement of the container dispensing valves.

4722333 - Portable emergency breathing apparatus - Owned by Respirator Research Ltd. (Willoughby, OH)

Portable emergency breathing apparatus is disclosed which is comprised of a unitary, generally flat manifold having opposite ends and top and bottom sides and a manifold passageway between the opposite ends. Three parallel, laterally juxtaposed compressed gas containers are mounted on the bottom side of the manifold by means of coupling components extending through the manifold from the top side and into internally threaded necks of the containers. Each of the coupling components provides flow communication between the interior of the corresponding container and the manifold passageway, and a shut-off and pressure reducing valve assembly is mounted on the manifold between two of the containers. The valve assembly has upper and lower portions respectively, adjacent the top and bottom sides of the manifold with the lower portion disposed in the space between the necks of the two adjacent containers. The valve assembly controls the flow of gas from the containers to a breathing hose connected to an outlet passageway of the valve assembly and leading to a hood or mask worn by the user of the apparatus.

4958750 - Disposable foam dispensing apparatus - Owned by Two-Part Foam Propellants, Inc. (Cudahy, WI)

A disposable foam dispensing kit for retaining a pair of aerosol cans, each containing separate fluid components of a foam system, in a portion relative to a bridge mechanism for simultaneously opening both aerosol can valves. The cans are supported in their operative position by a single carrier having detent formations for enabling snap action assembly of the cans with the carrier. The carrier includes a central post which extends as a tongue on which the bridge member is slidably mounted and ends at a pivot fulcrum to which an actuating cam lever is fitted by snap action.

4795059 - Method and apparatus for simultaneous and continuous delivery of liquids from a plurality of individual containers to a dispensing device - Owned by American Cyanamid Company (Stamford, CT)

The present invention provides a method and apparatus for continuous delivery of a liquid from individual liquid holding containers to a common discharge outlet. A bulk package is adapted to removably store a plurality of sealed liquid containers in predetermined positions within the package. The top surface of the package defines a plurality of openings for exposing the tops of the individual containers stored within the package. A removable lid includes a plurality of sharp discharge outlets or hollow spikes corresponding in number and disposed in alignment with the openings defined on the top surface of the package. The sharp discharge outlets extend from the lower surface of the lid, and are employed to puncture the openings in the individual containers stored within the package. The lid itself defines a hollow chamber providing a reservoir for receiving the flow of liquid from the individual containers. A harness support is provided to encase the outer periphery of the package and includes a clamp for driving the top lid into the upper surface of the package for puncturing the sealed openings of the individual containers stored within the package. The package can be supported by the harness in an inverted position to result in simultaneous flow of liquid from the individual containers into the hollow reservoir defined in the lid.

5309956 - System for puncturing aerosol cans, collecting liquid contents, and filtering environmentally objectionable constituents from released gases

Aerosol spray cans are positioned one at a time at a workstation by inserting the bottom wall of each can through an appropriately sized centering ring to center the bottom wall relative to an annular seal that engages peripheral portions of the bottom wall to support the can at the workstation. The bottom wall is clamped into sealing engagement with the annular seal by using a lever operated clamping mechanism that is adjustable to accommodate all known standard sizes of aerosol spray cans. The bottom wall is punctured by using a lever operated, rack and pinion driven piercing mechanism that extends a piercing pin through the center opening of the annular seal. Contents that discharge from a pierced can are ducted into a receiving container, a lower portion of which is used to collect liquid contents for environmentally safe disposal. Gaseous contents are drawn out of the upper region of the receiving container and pass through a series of filters to remove environmentally objectionable constituents therefrom before the filtered gas is ducted to a plenum that is maintained at less than atmospheric pressure by a blower that discharges gaseous contents from the plenum for venting to the atmosphere. A flow of ambient air is drawn from the vicinity of the workstation and is ducted into the plenum for discharge so that, if gaseous emissions inadvertently emanate from the vicinity of the workstation, they are quickly entrained in the flow of ambient air and are ducted to the reduced pressure plenum for discharge.
