Apparatus for stripping a copy sheet electrostatically supporting a toner image from an oppositely charged xerographic surface. The apparatus includes an electrically biased roller slightly spaced from the copy sheet in the stripping zone to effect the stripping. Contact between the roller and copy sheet neutralizes the sheet. Alternately, the neutralization may be effected by a corona discharge device.
A xerographic reproduction machine employing dual power input lines to divide the machine power load between two electrical circuits to prevent overload of either circuit.
In apparatus for stripping receptor paper away from the photosensitive drum of an electrophotographic machine after transfer printing, there are provided a stripping roller having a frictional band near its one end and urged against the photosensitive drum, and a stripping pawl having a pointed end adapted to engage the leading edge of the receptor paper for stripping the receptor paper and urging the same against the frictional band on the stripping roller.
A device for separating a transfer paper, onto which a toner image has been electrostatically transferred from the surface of a photosensitive member, from the surface of the photosensitive member. A separator roller made of an electrically conducting material is disposed close to the photosensitive member. A spacer assures that an appropriate gap is maintained between the photosensitive member and the separator roller. A voltage source which applies an AC voltage or a pulse voltage to the separator roller. The frequency of the applied voltage is selected to be from 200 Hz to 1 KHz or at 20 KHz or higher, and the voltage level can be controlled as a function of the separator roller temperature and/or moisture level or humidity.
A flexible sheet handling apparatus having particular application to the handling of documents in a copy machine is disclosed. The sheet handling apparatus includes a curved drive surface, a drive for driving the surface, and a curved reaction surface which defines a curved sheet path extending along the drive surface, the reaction surface being out of contact with the drive surface.
The removal of a flexible sheet from sheet transport devices is facilitated by applying a varying electrical field between the flexible sheet and an electrical conductor coated with a dielectric material.
