A gas burner for grills and the like has a fuel supply conduit communicating with a fuel receiving chamber having an open top and a plurality of open top flow passages extending therefrom. A cap member is securely positioned in spaced relation immediately above and in covering relation with upwardly facing edges of wall portions defining the open top of the receiving chamber and the flow passages extending therefrom to define a substantially continuous fuel exit slot therebetween whereby gas flows outwardly in substantially continuous sheets from an exterior side of the chamber and opposite sides of the flow passages to form a large substantially continuous flame area when the gas sheets are ignited.
The grill body is an integral member, preferably made of microcrystalline glass and formed with opposed series of corresponding pairs of upwardly opening saddles at each of two different intermediate levels in two opposed sidewalls. Each pair of saddles receives the opposite ends of a metal bar or the like, to provide two levels of support bars. Preferably, the support bars at each level are not interconnected by cross-bars so they may be removed, cleaned and even replaced individually. Particular gas burner and electric heating element constructions are illustrated.
An improved bar burner is provided for use in a cooking grill having a top cooking area. The bar burner includes an elongate body having a pair of curved ends and a pair of substantially parallel sidewalls extending between the curved ends. A plurality of holes is distributed along each side wall for flowing combustible gas from the interior to the exterior of the body. Each curved end also has a plurality of holes for flowing gas to the exterior of the body. The holes in each curved end are arranged to define an end zone and a pair of angularly facing side zones. The holes in the side zones have enlarged cross-sectional areas, thereby providing improved heat rejection. The cross-sectional areas of the holes defining the angularly facing side zones are generally equal to one another and greater than the cross-sectional areas of the holes distributed along each side wall and in the end zones. When used in a rectangular burner kettle, the flames at the angularly facing side zones reject heat toward the kettle corners to more nearly equalize the temperature across the top cooking area. Several preferred embodiments are disclosed.
A gas-air flexible tubing assembly for use for interconnecting a supply of gas, such as bottled gas, to the burner of a cooking grill, the flexible tubing formed of helical coiled wire, and coated with a flexible and expandable polymer, interconnects with, at one end, and air-gas intake tube, by means of a threaded connection, and connects, at its opposite end, by means of a threaded connection with the downward extension of an adapter, for securement of the assembly to the underface of the burner element of a gas grill.
An adjustable gas intake assembly for a barbecue grill which can be utilized with various types of gas barbecue grill burners. A venturi tube and a supply tube are connected by a flexible section which will provide horizontal or vertical adjustment of the supply tube. In one embodiment the supply tube has a flexible section which will afford axial compression and expansion for vertical adjustment of the supply tube. In another embodiment the supply tube has a flexible section and a telescoping section is provided in the venturi portion or the supply tube portion. This telescoping section is represented by at least one separate tubular member communicating with the flexible section.
