This disclosure relates to a carrying device for groups of cans, and particularly a normally planar rectangular plastic strip which is provided with a plurality of cut lines along its longitudinal centerline, and pairs of transverse cut lines on opposite sides of the longitudinal centerline for forming openings which receive and snugly grip each can beneath its double seam. The carrying device is particularly adapted for association with necked-in cans, and for this purpose a pair of narrow bands are formed adjacent each opening for snugly surroundingly engaging the necked-in portions of each of the cans.
The invention disclosed relates to a carrier thermo-formed from a thermoplastic sheet and providing individual compartments or thermoformed for a grouping of a plurality of containers, such as glass bottles. The upper annular segment of the compartment wall includes an undulated form encircling the container beneath an enlarged or bulged portion thereon. The undulated segment forms a bellows or an accordion-like wall terminating at its upper end in an inturned lip and inner annular rim thereon that defines an aperture. The upper bulged portion of the container is inserted through and beyond the aperture, the lip portion of said compartment wall engaging the container on the bulged portion to support the latter in the carrier. Upon removal of the container, the accordion-like segment is compressed by downward pull and a twist motion frees the bulged portion from the rim engagement. The carrier has a lower peripheral skirt encircling the grouping of containers, the peripheral skirt being reinforced by a laterally extending peripheral flange.
A strip of thermo-plastic material particularly designed to be longitudinally, permanently stretched, so as to be transformed into a container multi-packaging device having a plurality of can receiving apertures which are configured to include an outer band portion and an inner band portion from a strip with limited amount of material removed in series of narrow transversely arranged slot means. The slot means are particularly designed to produce inner band portions which are generally V-shaped and slightly stretched and outer band portions which are generally parallel to the axis of the strip and highly stretched to longitudinal orientation.
There is disclosed a package comprising a plurality of containers such as bottles, a plastic sheet material carrier member individually encircling and gripping top portions of each container and a complementary sheet material carrier member having interconnected portions, each of which encircles and grips at least two of the containers adjacent lower ends thereof.
A generally planar paperboard or polymeric sheet for stabilizing a rectangular array of substantially identical cans of a type having an openable end with a chime and for covering substantial portions of the openable ends of the arrayed cans. Pairs of parallel slits in the sheet define can-stabilizing strips. The sheet is clippable onto the cans in such manner that portions of the chimes extend into the paired slits and that each strip fits, without folding such strip, under portions of two adjacent cans. A package for merchandising such cans can be readily assembled by steps that include providing such cans in a rectangular array and clipping the sheet onto the cans in the specified manner.
A protection device for beaded lips of cans or canisters comprising a planar ring with downwardly projecting flanges with arcuate gaps between flanges, as well as multiples of the same device joined together to form multiple-canister carriers that may be provided with handles such as a pair of finger loops or a single half-loop.
