Abstract
A granular feed hopper for animals including a lower downwardly opening gravity outlet. A generally horizontal panel member is disposed in vertical registry with the outlet only slightly spaced below the latter such that the angle of repose of granular feed being gravity discharged through the outlet will fall within the plan area of the panel member. However, the spacing of the panel member below the outlet is appreciably greater than the largest dimension of individual feed particles to be dispensed from the hopper and the panel member is mounted for rotation about an upstanding axis, whereby the feed being discharged from the outlet and resting upon the panel will be disturbed and moved from beneath the pile of feed resting upon the panel member as the latter is rotated. In addition, the panel member includes peripherally spaced portions which are disposed appreciably radially outwardly from the axis of rotation of the panel member and exposed for attachment of feed thereto. These outer peripheral portions of the panel member attract the birds to be fed and the birds, by pecking at the feed supported from these outer peripheral portions of the panel member, cause the latter to rotate and thus feed from the hopper to be pulled from the bottom of the pile of feed resting upon the panel member.

5467736 - Wild squirrel feeder

A wild animal feed dispensing machine capable of providing hours of entertainment for individuals who enjoy watching wild life eat specifically designed for wild squirrels, whose intelligence allows them to figure out the mechanism within a reasonable length of time and remember for future feeding. The machine is comprised of six major parts: (1) feed storage container; (2) rotating valve; (3) different colored spokes; (4) gnaw guard; (5) trough/perch catch basin and (6) holding bracket The feed storage container with lid, stores the feed. The rotating valve holds the feed in the storage area until the different colored spokes rotate, which in turn rotate the valve, allowing feed to fall by gravity into the trough/perch catch basin. The gnaw guard keeps the wild squirrels from gnawing at the rotating valve and damaging it. The holding bracket holds the feeder upright. Since wild squirrels have a very keen sense of smell they are able to locate the feed in the feeder. Their curiosity and appetite then takes over and they will investigate. They climb all over the feeder, stumbling onto the different colored spokes, making them rotate by their weight. Feed then falls in to the trough/perch catch basin. From that time on, their intelligence tells them that all they have to do is to sit on the trough/perch catch basin and turn the different colored spoked wheel in either direction to receive feed. Wild squirrels do not like to share their food with other wild squirrels. It is amusing to watch squirrels chasing each other away from the feeder. The feeder can accommodate two wild squirrels at one time.

4632062 - Squirrel feeder

A squirrel feeder which includes a frame mounted to a support. A bar is rotatably connected to the frame and is adapted to carry a food item at an end of the bar.

6085693 - Wild animal feed dispensing device

A squirrel feeder comprising a thin planar disc having a plurality of individual openings spaced circumaxially thereabout for receiving peanuts, acorns etc. An elongated tube mounts the disc substantially centrally at its free end portion and with its opposite end portion attached to a supporting structure. A rotary connection may be provided between the mounting tube and disc particularly when the disc resides in a vertical plane with the tube extending horizontally. With the disc in a horizontal plane atop a mounting tube which extends vertically and with a spring connection between the tube and the disc, a rotational connection may also be added for complex "wobble" and rotational movement of the disc.

5664522 - Animal feeding apparatus

A squirrel or small animal feeding apparatus comprises a mounting post, an angular mounting member, a pivot arm rotatably mounted to the angular mounting member, and a combination of eye hooks for attaching either a corn cob or a small bird feeder to one end of the pivot arm. The animal feeding apparatus further comprises a slidably moveable counterweight, the counterweight being mountable to the pivot arm in order to counterbalance the weight of an animal climbing onto the animal feeder. When an animal climbs up the pivot arm to get at the food attached to the eye hook assembly, the pivot arm will rotate in either direction, causing the animal to swing across the bottom.

6889628 - Corn cob chew toy - Owned by ICBP (Independence, IA)

This invention is directed to a composition and a method for wearing down rodents' teeth. A corn cob is soaked in an aqueous solution in which salt and/or vitamins and other nutrients are dissolved or suspended. The cob is subsequently dried leaving a cob infused and impregnated with the salt and/or vitamins and other nutrients. The treated cob is then provided to a rodent which chews on it, thus wearing down its teeth.
