A tile-marking device including a baseplate having bosses on the top and bottom surface thereof spaced apart 9 and 12 inches respectively for reversible use with 9 and 12 inch tiles respectively. The baseplate includes a longitudinal slot thereon and a slide member is reciprocally mounted on the baseplate and provided with a projecting finger which engages an irregular surface to be followed with the sliding member including central holes spaced 9 and 12 inches respectively from the tip end of the finger so that the baseplate may be placed on a tile overlying a previously laid tile and the finger engaged with an irregular surface to duplicate the irregularity of the surface to be cut or edge to be formed into the tile.
A scribing tool is provided for scribing or cutting tile which must be "cut in" next to a wall. The scribing tool is of a width equal to the width of one of the tiles and is adapted to ride along the wall to scribe or cut the tile to necessary size.
A tile fitting device is provided for use in marking and cutting a loose tile of a predetermined size to be marked to permit it to be laid on a narrow untiled floor space disposed between an upright wall surface and confronting outer edge of a plurality of like laid tile of a predetermined size on a contiguous tiled floor space.
An adjustable measuring device includes a base having a front end, a rear setting end, opposing sides and a slidably attached slide member having a front marking end, a rear end and opposing sides. A pair of opposing locking elements is attached at the front end of the base for releasably securing the sides of the slide member against the base. One of the locking elements is attached to one of the sides of the base at the front end thereof and the other of the locking elements is attached to the other of the sides of the base at the front end thereof.
An instrument board (21) with a thin base (26) and top surface of base for placing tile to be measured for cutting, tracks (27) at front and rear atop base and tile placing surface between tracks, a pilot hole (31) in both ends of each track, a pair of measuring arms (23) that insert into pilot holes at sides of board with a peg (25) in each arm at measuring point (38), a straight edge (24) is placed at measuring points (38) on arms for a reference line (37) and a sliding member (22) that attaches to tracks, a measuring arm (23A) that installs into sliding member to measure uneven structure bases for tile laying and a corner measuring arm (23B) that installs into sliding member to measure corner area for tile laying and alignment guides (28) to align board front and alignment marks (29) to align board sides with seams of laid tile and a cutting surface (32) insert that installs atop base for cutting vinyl flooring tile, a spacer (33) and a spacer (34) for reducing width of tile placing area atop base, to provide sizing for ceramic tiles of different sizes.
A tile marking apparatus including an elongated member and a guide for maintaining the elongated member in a predetermined disposition relative to the surface being traced onto a tile. The elongated member of the tile marking apparatus is configured to accommodate a marking device a predetermined distance from a follower end of the apparatus for marking a tile with a profile as the elongated member moves thereover and the follower end engagably traverses the surface with which the tile is to abut. As will be appreciated, the profile marked on the tile corresponds to the profile of the surface with which the tile is to be positioned in abutting relationship. The other piece of the tile marking apparatus of the present invention is a guide. The guide is adjustably connected toward an opposite the follower end of the elongated member for maintaining the elongated member in a substantially constant disposition relative to the surface with which the tile is to abut.
