An identification combination comprising a band adapted to be fitted about the wrist, leg, neck or the like of a patient or about an object and further including a tether strap attached to or adapted to be attached to an encodable identification device and to the band so that the identification device can be held away from the patient for transfer of information therefrom without removing the identification device from the patient.
A composite identification band having multiple identification indicia, the assembly of which comprises a strap with a lower pocket overlying an upper or exposed surface and opening at one end to receive a pressure-adhesive or any other type label adapted to have writing thereon; an upper pocket superimposed on said lower pocket and opening at both ends to receive and store an encoded identification plate. The upper surface of the upper pocket is partially folded back over a portion of said upper surface to form a pocket adapted to receive one or more pressure-adhesive indicia labels. An additional pocket, adapted to receive other indicia, is spaced in longitudinal alignment adjacent to said upper and lower pockets along the strap, an end of the strap nearest the upper and lower pockets contains a stud projecting upwardly from the underside and through the band. The other end of the strap contains a spaced series of holes adapted to fit over the stud when the band is looped or wrapped around the object to be identified. A tether, detachedly fastened to one side of the strap along a tear line, contains a hole which fits over the stud; and the other end of the tether contains a fastening mechanism, which, when the tether is looped through the encoded identification plate and the fastener is placed over the stud fixedly attaches to said stud. The composite band is, therefore, permanently attached to the object around which it is placed; and the tether and encoded identification plate are permanently attached to the strap.
The disclosure is of a bracelet assembly for carrying an identification device, used to transfer identity information to a business record or to generate labels for identification of samples, (blood, urine, etc.) from a medical patient; or medicaments (injectables, parenterals, etc.) to the patient. The assembly is an adjustable bracelet band with a pocket and having an identity tag carried in the pocket. The identity tag is attached to a tether that is secured to the band.
A clamp for a plastics or similar band, such as is commonly used in hospitals to secure to a person an identity tag which is intended to be resistant to removal, comprises a base and a clamping member moulded integrally with a hinging web from synthetic plastics material, the base carrying a post over which one end of the band is impaled and secured by upsetting the end of the post, and the clamping member being hingeable towards the base to clamp the free end of the band which in use is laid across the base. Co-operating lip and tongue means are provided to secure the base and clamping member together in non-releasable manner.
A one-piece plastic clip comprises a base plate and a cover plate with a living hinge inbetween. In pre-assembly the plates are held widely open by a temporary unitary strut. The bracelet strap is attached to the base plate by having apertures formed in the strap receive bushings in the base plate which are then flared outwardly to "rivet" the parts together. The struts are then sheared away, and the cover plate is freely hinged. In the final assembly the strap encircles the patient's wrist and the cover plate is brought down over the base plate, pointed projections on the cover plate piercing the free end of the strap and entering the bushings, and staggered ribs augmenting the gripping. The cover plate is then latched closed against the base plate.
An information bracelet for protectively storing information related to an individual wearing the bracelet includes a bracelet body having a cavity defined therein. The cavity can be configured to store and protect an information-bearing medium on which the information related to the individual can be disposed. A strap assembly can also be provided and includes a strap member and a pair of clasps. The pair of clasps can be coupled to opposite ends of the strap member and can be directly coupleable to opposite ends of the bracelet body. The clasps can be configured to facilitate removable coupling of the strap assembly to the bracelet body.
