The connector has a body containing a plug receiving recess at one end with male terminals therein and a plug containing mating female terminals at the other end. The terminals are joined to conductors which extend laterally from the body. The connector is so constructed that the recessed end will receive the plug end of a second conductor or a plug which is similar to the connector but which has the recessed end omitted. The connector and plug provides flexibility in locating outlets at spaced points with the conductors connected in series.
A tee connector is connected between adjacent end connectors of a pair of main circuit wiring harnesses in a modular wiring system to provide a branch circuit take off. The connector includes an insulating housing having coupling portions each engageable with one of the end connector housings, and further includes a plurality of conductive terminals engageable with terminals of the end connectors. The housing of the tee connector includes cavities containing the terminals, each cavity including a main passage extending between the coupling portions of the housing and a transversely extending branch passage. Each terminal includes a main body portion having electrical contact disposed at the ends thereof and a branch body portion including flanges crimpable about a branch circuit wire. The terminal includes stop means for holding itself in position in the insulating housing, and the housing includes a housing portion which is separable from the main housing in order to expose the inside of the terminal receiving cavities for mounting of the terminals.
A rectangular service block is mounted at one end of an extension cord. The block is provided with two pairs of slots on one face and a single pair of slots on the opposite face for receiving the male contact plugs. The block is preferably molded of a plastic, dielectric material. A pair of rectangular dielectric flaps are molded with the block for each pair of the slots on the face having two pairs of slots. Each flap is integrally connected at one end to the block by a flexible web of material. The connection to the block is from the side in transverse alignment with each pair of slots. Each flap is provided with a pair of spaced, integral, rectangular tabs extending at right angles and adapted to enter the slots. The tab nearest the hinge on each flap being shorter to permit the pivotal action. The tabs are pushed into the slots with a fraction grip to provide a safety capping of the two pairs of slots when only the single pair of slots on the opposite face is in use.
A vertically insertable-detachable connector which includes male and female connectors, and can be reduced in height to provide a compact construction when the two connectors are connected together, and can easily achieve waterproof and dust-prevention effects, and can save a space required for mounting a harness. The male connector include a male terminal having a wire retaining portion and a fitting contact tongue extending in a direction perpendicular to a direction of extension of a wire, and a housing containing the male terminal therein and having a notch which is formed at a front end portion thereof, the watch opening in a direction of extension of the fitting contact tongue. The female connector includes a female terminal having a wire retaining portion and a fitting hole extending in a direction perpendicular to a direction of extension of a wire, and a housing containing the female terminal therein and having a notch which is formed at a front end portion thereof, the notch opening in a direction of the opening of the fitting hole. When the fitting contact tongue is inserted and fitted in the fitting hole, the notched front end portions of the two connectors are connected together, thereby reducing a deviation of the two wires from each other in a direction perpendicular to the axes of the two wires.
An adapter body for connection between an appliance, such as a personal computer, having a recessed male plug, comprising a body having a recessed male electrical connection and a boss portion forming a female electrical connection and a plurality of surface female plugs, the boss portion female plug being particularly configured for mating with the recessed male electrical plug of the appliance and the recessed male plug being configured to receive an extension cord plug, the surface female plugs being configured to receive the male plug portion of extension cords extending to other appliances, and voltage spike protectors within the adapter body with indicator lights to display the operability of the voltage spike protectors.
A current leadthrough particularly for a refrigerator comprises an insulator with a plurality of electrically conductive spaced apart pins extending through the insulator. The insulator includes a disc-shaped base portion with a plurality of nub portions corresponding to the member of pins, the pins extending through the nub portions. The nub portions extending upwardly from the base portion and the base portion comprise a material having temperature stability which is insensitive to chemicals and has some elasticity.
