Apparatus including a horizontally disposed line or the like supported a distance above ground or floor level and having two or more angularly related sections, as well as a shuttle device moveable along the length thereof past the support points for the adjoining sections thereof. The rowel rotates to permit such a shuttle to pass substantially horizontally disposed support lines or the like connected to the line or the like carrying the shuttle.

An improved animal tethering device is provided which prevents the leash from becoming entangled with the legs of the animal or with its free end thereof during rapid directional changes or movement by the animal. One end of the leash line is affixed to the animal and the other end over a pulley apparatus to a weighted loop which engages and slides along the leash line to maintain the leash line in an untangled posture.
The invention provides safety equipment to enable a person to work and move freely around on deck in all weathers while being securely attached to the boat and to enable recovery of a person overboard by other crew members. The equipment comprises a life-line secured along both sides of the boat. At the intermediate attachment points the life-line is secured by latchways which allow a lanyard hook clipped onto the life-line to traverse each such attachment point. When a person goes overboard, the drag force on the lanyard causes the lanyard hook to move to the aft-most stanchion from where the person overboard is towed and removed by other crew members. In another embodiment, the person overboard is towed by pendants at the stern of the boat. A hoist is provided to haul the pendant inboard for recovery of the person overboard.
A restraining device for allowing a pet to encircle a building or the like has a continuous cable looped around the building and a leash movably engaging the cable and fixedly attached to the pet so that the pet may pull the leash along the cable and around the building. A connector freely moveable along the cable allows the length of the loop to be adjusted prior to use.
An animal leash and running device for allowing movement of leashed animal includes an elongated flexible member. The flexible member extends through a runner such that the runner may be selectively positioned along a length of the flexible member. An elongated tubular member has a bend therein such that the elongated tubular member forms an obtuse angle. The flexible member extends through the elongated tubular member. A coupler is attached to the elongated tubular member for selectively coupling the elongated tubular member to a vertical structure. A leash has a first end and a second end. The first end of the leash is attached to the runner. The second end of the leash may be releasably coupled to an animal.
