Liquid household bleach composition containing optical brighteners protectively carried in the bleach solution against chemical deterioration by a finely particulate sequentially prepared synthetic organic polymer which is dispersed through the bleach solution.
Aqueous bleaching compositions can be satisfactorily colored by inclusion therein of a colored polymer latex which consists of a copolymer of a hydrophobic monomer with a reactive copolymerizable monomer containing a chromophore. These colored polymer latices are particularly suitable for coloring hypochlorite-containing bleaching compositions.
This invention relates to dyes which are resistant to hypochlorite attack, exemplary of which are anthraquinone dyes of the general formula: ##STR1## wherein X.sub.1, X.sub.2, X.sub.3, X.sub.4, R.sub.5, R.sub.6, R.sub.7, and R.sub.8 are defined within the specification. The invention also relates to hydrophobic latex particles, such as polyethylene, in which such dyes are deposited. A combined liquid bleaching and dyeing composition is disclosed which includes the aforementioned particles in hypochlorite liquid bleach at a pH above about 11. This composition has sufficiently long shelf life for the purposes of ordinary commerce.
The present invention relates to a stable aqueous hypochlorite solution which contains at least one specific fluroescent whitening agent of the bis(benzofuranyl) type, to the preparation thereof, and to the use of said composition for simultaneously bleaching and whitening materials in the home and in industry. These bleach solutions are stable for several months.
Aqueous hypochlorite bleach compositions containing a fine dispersion of the bleach stable optical brightener 4,4'-bis(4-phenyl-2H-1,2,3-triazol-2-yl)-2,2'-stilbenedisulfonate.
