A vehicle marker light has a cupped lens enclosing a lamp and its socket. The lamp base comprises a comparatively narrow metal strap extending longitudinally of the lens and, except for its outwardly bent ends, lying within the lens. At its center the strap is bent inward of the lens, then bent longitudinally along the inner surface of the top of the lens, then bent outwardly of the lens, and then longitudinally again, the outwardly bent portion being apertured for securement of the socket thereto and the longitudinally extending portion along the top of the lens being apertured and threaded for reception of a screw passing through the top of the lens. The outwardly bent ends of the strap have spring biased detent ends for quick installation in holes in a sheet metal portion of the vehicle body. A resilient pad between the lens and strap has a perimetrical resilient skirt for sealed engagement with the vehicle body.
A mounting arrangement for a vehicle lamp housing which includes an integral hold-down member having a lock arm cooperating with a pawl formed on a support panel and also having a contact foot insertable into a slot adjacent the pawl for locking the lamp housing to the support panel.
A mounting base for a light emitting diode (LED) clearance or identification light for a mobile vehicle such as a truck or a bus. The mounting base is comprised of a centerline structural member with intersecting structural members which are engaged to the centerline structural member at the front end and at two other locations between the front end and the rear end of the centerline structural member. An outer cover encases the centerline structural member and the intersecting structural members. The outer cover extends beyond the front end to form an LED mating surface. The LED mating surface has a slot for an engaging an LED element. The centerline structural member has holes at from the from its top edge to bottom edge at the rear end of the centerline structural member and where the centerline structural member intersects the intersecting structural members. The holes correspond to different vehicle roof mounting configurations. The outer cover has holes corresponding to the holes in the centerline structural member. The entire mounting base is tapered downwards from the LED mating surface backwards.
A vehicle indicator belt to be worn by a vehicle operator. The belt contains indicator lights which are positioned on the belt. A power supply is also positioned on the belt. Electrical wiring is used to interconnect the indicator lights to the power supply through an activating switch. Further, the belt may contain a channel formed by the belt material for use as a housing for the electrical wiring.
A signaling system for mounting to an exterior surface of an emergency vehicle opposite an interior surface of the vehicle to which objects are mounted is provided. The signaling system includes a light bar having a plurality of signaling devices supported on and distributed along a base member and enclosed by a cover. A plate is secured to the exterior surface of the emergency vehicle by one or more fasteners of a first type, which pass through the vehicle into its interior. The plate includes a surface for engaging the base of the light bar such that the light bar can be suspended from the plate. An opening is provided in the plate for communicating electrical wiring to the light bar. One or more fasteners of a second type that do not pass through the surface of the vehicle into its interior are provided for securing the light bar to the plate and thereby the exterior surface of the emergency vehicle such that the light bar can be removed from the exterior surface of the vehicle without removing the fasteners of the first type, which hold the plate to the vehicle.
A side marker lamp mounting assembly for mounting a side marker lamp vertically to an angled, non-horizontal exterior surface of a vehicle and creating an electrical grounding connection between the lamp and the exterior of the vehicle. The support, formed of a non-conductive material, is wedge-shaped and includes a number of mounting sleeves disposed within its interior. A U-shaped ground clip is inserted and secured within a pair of the sleeves such that a central portion of the clip extends below the support to electrically contact the exterior surface of the vehicle. A screw threaded into one of the sleeves secures the support to the vehicle and engages a first end portion of the clip to ensure electrical connection of the clip with the vehicle. The lamp is mounted to the support by a second screw threaded into a second of the sleeves and the second screw contacts a central section of a ground conductor strip extending beneath the lamp. The ground strip is connected to a lighting mechanism within the lamp. The second screw also contacts a second end portion of the ground clip as it is threaded in the second sleeve and provides an electrical connection between the central section of the ground strip and the clip. In this manner, the lamp is mounted vertically to the exterior surface of the vehicle while forming an electrical grounding connection from the ground strip to the screw, from the screw to the ground clip, and from the ground clip to the vehicle.
