A machine capable of performing one or another of a variety of conditioning operations on a surface by use of vibration energy. A vertically extending base holding plate has a cantilever beam extending from it, with a captive stationary end fastened by a resilient mount to the plate. A source of vibration energy is mounted on the cantilever beam intermediate to its ends. A main resonant plate substantially parallel to the cantilever beam has a work shoe removably attached to it through a resilient pad. The end of said cantilever beam remote from the base holding plate has a second resonant plate secured to it in a position substantially parallel to the cantilever beam and the main resonant plate through a plurality of spaced resilient mounts, the combined structure of all the parts being such that they can be vibrated at or near their natural frequency by the chosen source of vibration energy.

A vibrator bracket 224 for mounting a vibrator 226 including a motor 228, a shaft 231 controlled by the motor and weight 232. The bracket has members (260, 261) to engage the motor. The bracket has a shaft support, including an opening 275 for receipt of an end of the shaft remote form the motor whereby the shaft is positioned in the opening and deflection of the shaft is limited by the support.
A floor coating agent applying machine having a movable machine body, an applying member attached to the movable machine body for applying a floor coating agent onto a floor surface. The applying member includes a plurality of elastic rods vertically suspended from the movable machine body, with the rods being arranged in a loop-like formation as viewed from above the movable machine body, an eccentric rotary cam drivably attached to the movable machine body and rotatable on a vertical axis positioned inside the loop of the elastic rods and a circular recess vertically slidably fitted about the eccentric rotary cam so as to cause a rotational force of the cam to elastically deform the elastic rods thus producing vertical vibration of the applying member.
A vibratory cleaning/polishing head secured to manually operated handle includes a detachable cleaning/polishing pad secured to the head, and a rechargeable battery and vibratory unit including a motor. In one embodiment, the vibratory unit and battery are substantially contained within the head housing. In another embodiment the vibratory unit and battery are situated atop of the housing.The motor contains a driveshaft to which an eccentric element is secured. The driveshaft extends substantially parallel to the horizontal upper surface of the head, wherein vibration of the head in a vertical plane is induced for enhancing efficacy of cleaning/polishing.In one embodiment, the device has two vibratory units secured to the head, each spaced from the other on laterally opposed sides of attachment yoke. The units operate in the 2,500 to 8,000 RPM range.
A motorized cleaning/polishing device includes a housing and a carrier with a detachable cleaning/polishing attachment. The housing contains a rechargeable battery, motor and flex mount having flexible pillars to which the carrier is mounted. The carrier is also coupled to the motor drive shaft via an eccentric element and bearing. The carrier may have a foam layer with hook fasteners adhered to its underside for removably attaching any one of various attachments to the carrier. Cleanser or polish can be impregnated in the attachment wet or dry, or it can be contained in a perforated or water dissolvable packet sandwiched between the carrier and the attachment. A removable scrub brush can also be attached to the carrier so that its bristle head orbits in front of the device. The device is particularly suited to orbit in the 2,500 to 10,000 OPM range.
