Vise grip pliers are provided with an improved quick-action adjustment for the operating handle fulcrum bar, consisting of a transversely serrated rack on an inner surface of the jaw handle member, a mating serrated block pivotally connected to the end of the fulcrum bar and movable lengthwise of the serrated bar, a control tab on the outside of the handle member rigidly connected through the handle member to the serrated block, and a spring biasing the control tab and the serrated block outwardly, the latter into position-fixing engagement with the serrated bar, disengagement for movement lengthwise of the bar being effected by thumb pressure on the tab and sliding it lengthwise of the handle to a selected position. A fine adjustment is provided by movably mounting the rack on the handle member and controlling the movement of the rack with an eccentric cam.

Locking pliers including fixed unit of generally elongate shape which forms at one end a fixed handle and at the other end a fixed jaw. A movable unit includes a movable jaw articulated to the fixed jaw, and an actuating lever of which one end is articulated to the movable jaw and the other end forms a movable handle. Also, a toggle mechanism is provided and includes a link articulated to an intermediate point of the lever and extending to a rear bearing point adjustable along the length of the fixed handle. The actuating lever crosses a straight line which joins the articulation of the movable jaw to the bearing point of the link, and the fixed handle extends substantially along a straight line joining the articulation to the bearing point.

An improved chain locking pliers being of the type having a fixed handle, a movable handle, a fixed jaw affixed to the fixed handle for movement therewith, a movable jaw pivotally mounted to both the movable handle and the fixed handle, and apparatus for holding a chain and being associated with detents in both the fixed jaw and the movable jaw, respectively. The improvement includes the apparatus detachably lockingly capturing the chain to the fixed jaw.

Refrigerant discharge pliers for removing refrigerant from the lines of refrigeration systems comprising a first rigid bar having a handle formed on one end and a lower jaw formed on the other end. A second rigid bar having a handle formed on one end and an upper jaw formed on the other end. A pivotal mechanism for coupling the jaws and allowing one bar to pivot with respect to the other. A spacer mechanism coupled between the handles for biasing the jaws. A positioning mechanism coupled to the jaws for holding and positioning a line. A piercing mechanism coupled to jaws for piercing a line held by the positioning mechanism, and a discharge mechanism coupled to the piercing mechanism for draining a pierced line held by the positioning mechanism.

A tool for urging an enlarged head of a vehicular exhaust system mounting stud from an insulator. The tool includes a driver having a driving shaft for contacting the enlarged head and applying forces thereto. The tool also includes a support pivotally mounted to the driver. The support includes a pair of spaced apart arms. The arms define first and second supporting surfaces. The supporting surfaces are angularly aligned relative to one another such that the first and second support surfaces can be used sequentially for urging the enlarged head completely through the insulator.
