A wheel includes a well base rim, also known as a drop center rim, the well of which is offset from the median plane of the rim so as to be farther from one edge of the rim than from the other. The junction between the rim and the wheel disk is in the vicinity of the edge of the rim that is the farther from the well.
Dual wheels for campers, autos, and the like light vehicles to be used in place of a single standard wheel are provided. The arrangement includes an inner wheel which has a portion to be attached to the standard studs on the vehicle wheel hub, and another portion carrying a similar set of studs upon which a second wheel can be mounted outboard of the inner wheel.
A radial ply tire and rim assembly in which the rim has an axially extended flange with a special configuration to provide a double register for the bead area. The tire when mounted on the rim and inflated has its carcass distorted radially outwardly from the natural equilibrium curvature in which it was molded and the carcass curves axially inwardly to meet the bead core at a very small angle with respect to the axis of the tire.
A disc wheel or demountable rim assembly for a vehicle comprising an asymmetrical drop-center rim with one bead seat spaced from the well by a ledge in which the disc or an adaptor band is welded to the rim with a T-butt weld adjacent the transition between said one bead seat and the ledge.
