3904009 - Fluid dispensing system having token dispenser - Owned by Veeder Industries, Inc. (Hartford, CT)

A fuel delivery system for automotive self-service stations includes a token dispensing mechanism in each fuel pump for automatically dispensing a pump identifying token. The mechanism includes a tubular token storage compartment for housing a stack of tokens and a token metering slide reciprocably movable for sequentially dispensing tokens from the stack within the storage compartment. The slide is automatically driven toward a token dispensing station upon operation of a control lever and is biased into a return position for receiving the next token from the stack. A chute positioned below the dispensing station conveys the tokens to the exterior of the pump where they can be easily retrieved by the customer for presentation to the station attendant.

4816650 - Display of information at service stations

A service station installation is disclosed in which the fuel amount and cost registers of the dispensing pump are connected by an information link to a hand-portable unit which displays the same information. The unit can be affixed to the windscreen of the vehicle which is being refueled or can be placed on the vehicle. The driver can monitor fuel amount and cost without leaving his vehicle.

6318917 - Gasoline dispensing system and method using a single printer - Owned by Dresser, Inc. (Addison, TX)

A gasoline dispensing system and method according to which gasoline is dispensed from opposite ends of a dispenser system. A printer is mounted in the dispenser system for printing a receipt for a transaction occurring at one end of the dispensing system while access is provided to the printed receipt by the customer from the one end of the dispenser system. Access to the receipt by a customer from the other end of the dispenser system is prevented.

5407115 - Printed receipt severing - Owned by Gilbarco, Inc. (Greensboro, NC)

A printed paper dispensing and severing apparatus includes an elongated paper to be printed, dispensed and severed. A printer including a positive drive mechanism projects paper along a guide path to an exit chute in a housing, the guide path being defined at least in part by a deflection plate so that the projection of the paper will encounter the deflection plate and be guided to exit the housing. A cutting mechanism adjacent the guide path includes a blade with a centrally peaked ridge in a guide surface generally parallel to the guide path. The reliability of this mechanism is dramatically improved due the absence of moving parts in the guide path, cutter blade, deflection plate and exit chute. The guide path and the exit chute are angled to one another, the elongated paper is provided in the form of a roll of paper which gives the paper a curl and the curl of the paper is in the same sense as the angle. Thus, paper projected along the guide path by the positive drive mechanism passes against the blade and through the exit chute to exit the housing in an untensioned condition. The subsequent application of a tension to the paper cuts the paper against the blade, producing an essentially straight cut.
