A microwave dispersive network for wideband signal processing systems is disclosed in which a plurality of all-pass, quarter-wave, coupled transmission lines constructed in dielectric stripline are connected in cascade to synthesize a desired dispersive characteristic.
A square turning meander line is disclosed which is a kind of strip line having alternating bends, adapted for use as a pulse compressor or a delay equalizer. A continuous line is formed to extend on both the top and bottom surfaces of a dielectric plate, which plate is disposed between top and bottom earth conductors in spaced and parallel relation thereto. The continuous line consists of first and second pluralities of parallel conductor lines arranged on respective top and bottom surfaces of the dielectric plate in opposed relationship; the lines are connected at first commonly disposed ends to the corresponding, opposed conductor lines on the other surface of the dielectric plate and each line is connected at the other end to an adjacent line of the same surface, in alternate succession to those on the other surface of the dielectric plate.
There is disclosed herein a microstrip filter having low loss and high rejection at X-band. The filter includes N microstrip open circuited, half-wavelength hairpin resonators disposed in a series coupled relationship with respect to each other, where N is an integer equal to or greater than one. A metallic housing encloses the hairpin resonators for shielding thereof to increase the unloaded Q of the resonators. An improved signal input and output coupling arrangement is also provided for the filter. The signal coupling arrangements include a microstrip conductor having a first width less than the width of the microstrip conductor forming part of each of the hairpin resonators between the input and output hairpin resonators. In the coupling arrangement, the adjacent limb and a portion of the cross-arm connected to the adjacent limb of the conductor of the input and output hairpin resonators also have said first width and the spacing of the limbs of the conductors of the input and output hairpin resonators are greater than the spacing of the limbs of the conductors of the hairpin resonators between the input and output hairpin resonators.
A transmission line is formed by a pair of parallel, staggered, broad metal strips. In one embodiment, the broad metal strips are on opposite surfaces of a dielectric substrate with at most a relatively small overlap of the broad metal strips.
A new class of microwave and UHF filters is disclosed using only discrete hairpin resonators, with input and output lines either open circuited or short circuited at their ends, or using both discrete hairpin resonators and half-wave parallel-coupled line filter structures in hybrid filter configurations.
A high-frequency filter whose main structure is formed by stacking a plurality of patterned substrates. The high-frequency filter includes a metal grounding layer, a signal input port, a signal output port, and a plurality of resonator layers having resonators coupled to one another for transmitting signals. By utilizing coupling among resonators located on adjacent layers respectively instead of coupling among resonators on a single layer in the prior planar patterned filter, the structure of the high-frequency filter in the invention can be changed according to process limitations.
