Abstract
A cold forged valve stem for a three-way valve includes a conical valving portion provided by a conical skirt of work hardened material. The skirt is radially deflectable to insure proper seating and hardened to reduce wear. An oppositely facing conical valve seat is also work hardened. The valve stem is cold formed from cylindrical stock without scrap. The skirt is formed by first upsetting an intermediate head and subsequently further upsetting such head while backward extruding a tubular skirt. Subsequently the tubular skirt is deformed by a conical tool to a conical shape. The opposite end of the valve stem is forward extruded to a polygonal shape to provide a wrenching portion.

3789881 - REFRIGERATION SERVICE VALVE - Owned by The Weatherhead Company (Cleveland, OH)

A valve assembly and method of making the same particularly suited for use as a double seat refrigeration valve comprising a body which has an internal poppet receiving chamber and a pair of valve seats at opposite ends of the chamber with one seat associated with an axial port and the other seat associated with an axial stem guide bore. The poppet has an initial outer diameter at least as small as the axial port seat to permit it to be positioned in the chamber through the axial port and is adapted to be plastically expanded radially outwardly by a flaring tool to a final diameter larger than the axial port seat so it is capable of sealing the port to prevent fluid communication between the axial port and a second port in the chamber. The poppet includes a sealing surface adapted to seal the stem guide bore seat when the poppet is moved away from the axial port seat.

4010929 - Valve - Owned by The Dow Chemical Company (Midland, MI)

A crank-operated valve is provided wherein the valving member and stem are of deflectable plastic material. Sucn an arrangement permits a corrosion resistant, easily operating valve to be prepared using an imprecise valve body.

4921214 - Non-refillable packless valve for pressurized containers - Owned by Amtrol Inc. (West Warwick, RI)

A packless non-refillable valve which incorporates a diaphragm.

5036876 - Non-refillable cylinder valve for returnable cylinders - Owned by Amtrol Inc. (West Warwick, RI)

A replaceable, non-refillable or single use valve for returnable, pressurized gas cylinders. The valve includes a valve housing removably mounted on the cylinder and a replaceable valve cartridge removably mounted in the valve housing. The valve cartridge includes a housing and a valve body movable in the housing movable by means of a handle to allow and prevent release of pressurized gas from the cylinder. A nozzle, which slidably fits in a vertical slot in the valve housing, is provided for venting pressurized gas from the cylinder.

4813575 - Non-refillable valve for pressurized containers - Owned by Amtrol Inc. (West Warwick, RI)

Non-refillable valve has a housing with a central bore, which has a lower portion that is narrower than its middle portion that in turn is narrower than its upper portion. A side port is present in the lower region of the middle portion. An outlet nozzle is located in the side port. The lower end of the housing sealingly engages the pressure container to provide communication therebetween. The valve stem is rotatably positioned in the upper portion of the central bore. The valve stem contains a vertical bore in its bottom portion. A resilient valve sealing member has a body portion and a top pin which slidably fits in the bore in the valve stem. The sealing member has a top rim portion which has a continuous outer surface and does not have any slots, identations or the like. Also, the body portion does not have any arm or arms, particularly around its periphery. The top rim portion of the sealing member is comprisingly positioned in the upper portion of the central bore when the valve is inactive or being filled. The valve sealing member is pushed into the middle portion via the valve stem when the valve is placed in the active position. The non-compressed top rim of the sealing member is wider than the upper portion of the central bore, which prevents movement of the sealing member back into the upper portion of the central bore. The sealing member engages the seating interface when any refill of the container with pressurized fluid is attempted.
