A valve assembly wherein a valve cartridge, having honed valve surfaces in which a lapped valve spool is reciprocated, is supported in a housing by means isolating these surfaces from stresses due to bolt torques and other stresses to which the assembly is subjected.
An electromagnetic valve without an independent casing is provided. The electromagnetic valve includes the housing of a hydraulic control system in which the electromagnetic valve is functionally and physically incorporated. The housing has perpendicularly intersecting first and second wall surfaces and includes a cylindrical cavity bored into the second wall surface with the central longitudinal axis of the cavity being disposed parallel to the first wall surface. A linear groove is formed into the first wall surface perpendicularly to the center axis of the cylindrical cavity and communicates with the cylindrical cavity. A valve port, directly in the housing or in a valve seat member fitted into the housing in alignment with the central longitudinal axis of the cavity, communicates with a fluid conduit in the housing. Valve components are located in the cavity and externally of the cavity is a retainer which engages the components in compression making contact through the linear groove.
A compact valve block for an I.S. glassware forming machine comprises two rows of valve combinations each of which comprises a pilot-operated poppet valve under the control of a solenoid-operated pilot valve which directs pilot air to the poppet valve, and a plenum chamber, preferably an exhaust chamber, which is located adjacent to all the valve combinations and which is common to either all the supply ports or, preferably, all the exhaust ports of all the poppet valves.

A solenoid controlled valve of the double pilot type includes a valve main body having a valve mechanism, a pair of pilot valve units each being secured to respective sides of the valve main body and having solenoids for driving the valve mechanism of the valve main body, to first and second sets of male terminals connected to the solenoids, a wiring box being secured to a lower surface of an assembly of the valve main body and the pilot valve units, third and fourth sets of female terminals receiving the first and second sets of male terminals, respectively, a fifth set of male terminals connected to the third and fourth sets of terminals via electric wires, and a base secured to a lower surface of the wiring box at its center. The wiring box has formed therein conduits which are communicated with conduits formed in the valve main body and the base.
