Abstract
The skeleton frame of a building consists essentially of identical frame elements fastened to each other to form a system of parallelepiped-shaped cells, each cell being bounded by four frame elements which are at least in part common to two contiguously juxtaposed cells. The cells may be freely cantilevered from upright pillars or freely span distances between pillars which are multiples of the horizontal dimension of one cell.

4000589 - Congruent modular building segments

A building formed by horizontally conjoining a plurality of congruent, self-supporting, sector-like modular building segments, each comprising a sector floor and congruent roof section, and a straight and opposing vee-shaped wall section, supported in between two opposite and converging identical rib-frames, each continuously structural and symmetrically equal about their respective planes of symmetry, therein allowing a plurality of modular building segments to interconnect on either rib-frame side to produce a variety of building configurations, one of which being a regular polygon-like building containing an interior open court. Mutually interconnected rib-frames of conjoining modular building segments, which are each approximately of bedroom-size area, fully open within their rectangular rib-frame perimeters for contiguous room expansion and for placement of various types of multifunctional demountable interior partitioning. Rib-frames structurally protrude continuously on the exterior to accommodate common foundation members, to provide multistory stacking alignment support, and for separation of independent floor and roof elements between all story-levels. Modular building segments, transportable in either their premanufactured, prefinished, portable component sections or in factory assembled modular units, will each mechanically connect and disconnect between the mutually interconnected rib-frames of all conjoining modular building segments and also between individually assembled floor, roof, wall, and rib-frame sections. Straight and vee-shaped wall sections contain one and two openings respectively to accommodate either door, window, or other detachable fascade panel elements of different function and design to optionally change a modular building segment's external character. A utilities trough accessible from the outside is established at each of the four modular building segment corners where floor and roof sections meet non-load bearing opposing wall sections.

4372087 - Modular building structures

A modular building structure is disclosed herein and comprises a support structure (10) including a plurality of spaced vertical columns (11), horizontal beams (12) interconnected between columns to form a rigid support system, and at least one space module (22) structurally defining an enclosed volume of space and adapted to be removably supported from said support structure, in which there are provided utility conduits (45, 46, 47, 48, 49) integrated with at least some of said columns and connectable at their lower ends to utility inlets and outlets (40). The conduits are provided for connection into various units (34,35,36,37) and utilities with the space module.

3964216 - Modular building constructon - Owned by G. Tsutomu Arai and Roger A. Hummel, Architects, (a Partnership) (Suttons Bay, MI)

The building construction is an assembly of any desired number of like individual block-like components which are in the main of wood, each externally and/or internally sheathed with a skin, preferably of plyboard or the like; and each unit affords at least one occupancy space, such as a livingroom, bedroom, kitchen, office, etc. Said blocks each have the outline in a transverse upright plane of an equilateral parallelogram, more specifically as shown herein an oblique-angled parallelogram or rhombus which is disposed with its major diagonal in a horizontal plane. Such blocks are rigidly connected or stably pivoted together at their ends and/or sides, as by bolted steel bracket plate units, in end-to-end and/or side-by-side relation at the apices or major or minor diagonals thereof, being in any desired rectilinear end or side array, or in a laterally staggered arrangement.

4562681 - Web section for a space frame - Owned by GTE Products Corporation (Stamford, CT)

A web section for a space frame has a node member attached to each end of the web member. A nodal section of the space frame is made up of four web sections which interconnect the chords of the space frame. Each node member of the web section is one quarter of the nodal section of the space frame. The space frame utilizing these web sections has two levels of chords interconnected by the web sections. The nodal section has a protective cover to cover and protect the fasteners to prevent corrosion as well as to improve the esthetics of the space frame by eliminating any exposed external fasteners.

4045937 - Method of constructing a prefabricated room element and a building of a plurality of said elements - Owned by Credelca A.G. (Zug,CH)

A transportable prefabricated room element having a floor panel structure and a vertical load-bearing structure and comprising a floor panel having a horizontally extending channel therein, a vertical structure having a vertically extending channel therein and a load-bearing frame forming an integral part of the transportable room element and comprising a horizontal load-bearing beam engaged in said horizontally extending channel and a vertical load-bearing beam engaged in said vertically extending channel.
