A template by which doors or other panels may be easily cut to shape to fit predetermined openings therefor. The template comprises flexible strips along at least two adjacent edges extensible under the effect of spring loaded rods at various points along the strips and having a retracting mechanism interconnecting all the spring loaded rods and operable through a single manipulating handle with a further single manipulating handle associated with means to lock the spring loaded rods in different positions.
A kit for preventing the movement of door frames during the time that brick and mortar are being erected around the frames. As one element of the kit, there is at least one block which fits between the door jambs to prevent inward or outward bowing of the jambs. The blocks contain peripheral holes which contain protective clips. The blocks may be tied in place at the desired location by passing a tie through the appropriate holes and around the doorjamb. A second element of the kit is at least one supporting brace which prevents movement of the door frame away from the vertical plane of the frame. The brace contains connecting holes at each end and, preferably, is made of telescopic tubing for ease in adjustment of length. The lower portion of the brace rotatably connects to a support. The upper end of the brace rotatably connects to a two-piece holder which removably attaches to a door jamb.
A method is provided of resurfacing a substrate with a natural stone the substrate having a top surface and an edge, the method including placing a plurality of templating strips on the top surface to form a template defining an outside dimension, cutting out a top piece for resurfacing the top surface based on the outside dimension of the template, cutting out an edge band for resurfacing the edge of the substrate, bonding the edge band and the top piece together to form a replacement top and adhesively joining the replacement top to the substrate. A plurality of templating jigs may be used for forming a template. Pieces of natural stone may have respective bevel cuts made in their respective edges for adjoining with other pieces to form a replacement top of natural stone. Inside edges may be reinforced with a fiberglass cloth coated with a polyester resin. A plurality of natural stone pieces may be adjoined to form a segmented radius of curvature for covering a corresponding radius of curvature of an edge of the existing substrate.
