A separate stand for a bicycle comprising an elongated member, having a transverse hook at one end thereof, a bent out leg, at the opposite end, and a crank housing offset intermediate the ends of the member, and a stiffening member secured to the elongated member adjacent the hook and also adjacent the bend of the leg, said stiffening member also including a like crank housing supporting offset, and an appositely bent leg.
A system and method for cleaning a drive train of a bicycle, e.g., a mountain bike, that includes a novel stand, cleaning axle, tweezer brush, water nozzle, and gear cleaner used to clean the entire drive train of the bicycle or other cycle having a chain-driven drive train and a removable wheel that is driven by the chain. The stand has a base, an upright, and a pig tail hook having at least two surface portions that contact a seat post of the mountain bike, with the pig tail hook characterized in that gravity provides a retaining force for the pig tail hook to retain the seat post. The cleaning axle replaces the chain driven wheel and provides tension to the chain, allowing the chain to be cycled with the pedals and rapidly cleaned while the chain is cycled. The tweezer brush has two cleaning surfaces oppositely disposed to evenly grip the chain on opposite sides. The water nozzle has a wand to be inserted into cleaning ports in the cleaning axle to direct a cleaning fluid, e.g., water, directly onto the chain being cleaned. The gear cleaner is a thin, elongate cleaning member having a pair of wires twisted into interlocking spirals with a plurality of fiber elements clamped therebetween and is used to clean the exposed surfaces between gear plates, used to clean the gaps between teeth of the gears, and used to clean the inside surfaces of the chain.
A portable bicycle stand for supporting a bicycle in an upright position is designed to permit its removal from the bicycle when not in use. The bicycle stand includes an elongated support leg having at a first end a cooperating finger and thumb adapted to detachably mount the support leg to the bicycle frame in a first support position wherein a second opposite end of the support leg engages the ground to support the bicycle in a generally upright orientation. Intermediate its first and second ends, the support leg further has a pair of aligned arms which, in cooperation with the support leg itself, are adapted to detachably mount the support leg on the bicycle frame in a second storage position.
An extendible bunk stake for use on a log truck and the like. The stake includes an upright post adapted to be mounted on a bunk on the truck, and an extension member telescopically extendible from the post from a lowered to a raised position. The extension member is releasably locked in its raised position by a spring-operated latch which cooperates with a latch cover on the post to indicate when the latch is in a locking position. An arm mounted on the member, adjacent its upper end, is shiftable between an upwardly projecting position and an inwardly projecting position where the arm is engageable by a log being lifted by a boom loader, to extend the extension member. The arm is held in its inwardly and upwardly projecting positions by a spring-loaded lock, with arm release from its inwardly extending position and movement toward its upwardly extending position occurring upon continued lifting of such a log beyond the point where the extension member has been fully raised.
A bicycle support stand for detachable engagement with the bicycle pedal crank hub and adjacent bicycle frame element, for extending beneath the bicycle frame a sufficient distance to selectively support the bicycle upright on either its front or rear wheels. The stand is formed of a pair of metal rods joined together to form an upper frame element receiving fork and a pair of downwardly diverging legs extending transversely of and on opposite sides of the plane of the bicycle frame, with an upwardly opening support bracket joined to the rods between their ends, to receive and support the bicycle pedal crank hub. A manually applied hook engages over the bicycle frame element to releasably fasten the stand to the bicycle frame.
A new and novel bicycle work stand utilized to effect repairs and adjustments to a bicycle. The bicycle work stand is constructed having a base member with spaced apart legs and an end portion. At least two spaced apart hooking means having cradle areas, extension arms and non-abrasive material covering the cradle areas of the at least two spaced apart hooking means are fixedly attached to the end portion of the base member. A support plate having support ears, V-shaped notches and non-abrasive material covering the support ears is fixedly attached to ends of the extension arms of the at least two spaced apart hooking means. A bottom bracket of a bicycle is removably engaged by the at least two spaced apart hooking means so that the cradle areas of the spaced apart hooking means removably contact an underneath portion of the bottom bracket of the bicycle. The support ears of the support plate contact an inner underside of chain stays of the bicycle producing an uplifting effect on the chain stays and on a rear wheel of the bicycle. The non-abrasive material covering the cradle areas of the spaced apart hooking means and the support ears prevents gouging, marring, scratching and defacing of the finished surface of the bicycle. The V-shaped notches prevent damage to various cables routed along the bicycle and facilitate the repair and adjustment or removal or installation of such cables. The bicycle work stand properly positions a bicycle for repairs and adjustments while maintaining stability and balance of the bicycle by utilizing a three point footprint and an oblique contact angle with the ground or similar flat surface. Also disclosed is a new and novel method for using the bicycle work stand.
