Abstract
A hitch for truck and trailer wherein the locking member swingably moves in an arcuate manner to lock and unlock a trailer carried eye in place on a post member of the hitch. A latch plate is vertically positionable to engage one end of the locking member to retain same against horizontal, opening movement. The latch plate is urged downwardly into surfacial, abutting contact with the locking member while additional means associated with the latch plate permits downward movement of same into a releasing position permitting swinging movement of the locking member. A lug on the locking members retains the latch plate in a retracted position and the locking member open during a coupling operation to prevent coupling damage to both said plate and locking member.

4319765 - Reversible push block-rear bumper and pintle hook assemblies - Owned by CMI Corporation (Oklahoma City, OK)

A reversible push block-rear bumper assembly for attachment to a motor vehicle is provided in which a support unit having a forwardly inclined downwardly extending surface is secured to the underside of a vehicle in close proximity to the rear end of the vehicle. A block unit having an upper incline surface which can be mated with the forwardly incline downwardly extending surface of the support unit is also provided, such surfaces being adapted so that when the block unit and support unit are secured together, the block unit will either extend downwardly from the support unit in a plane substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal plane of the vehicle and thus function as a bumper or, upon rotating the block unit 180.degree. into a reverse position, the block unit will extend outwardly from the rear end portion of the vehicle for use as a push block. An extension unit for modifying the length as well, as the angular relationship of the block unit to the support means, is also provided. In addition, an improved pintle hook assembly for attachment to the support unit is set forth.

4426098 - Head assembly for a towing device

An improved head assembly for a towing device for use in connecting to an aircraft to tow the same, said assembly including a body having a central operating opening therethrough and a communicating downwardly opening recess for hooked-up engagement with the towing bracket of an aircraft and wherein a cam is swingably carried in the operating chamber with a portion adapted for rotation into and out of closing relation of the downwardly facing recess to captivate a towing bracket of an aircraft.

4844498 - Trailer hitch

An improved trailer hitch is disclosed for coupling a towing vehicle and a trailer. The invention is suitable for accommodating both ball and socket-type couplings and ring and pintle-type couplings. The integral body of the trailer hitch has the known elements of a rear mount for attaching the body to a towing vehicle, a ball housing with a bore for mounting a removable ball stud, a plate for mating with a towed vehicle, and a passge for connecting a latching arm. The improvement comprises four elements. First, the latching arm has a head, having a front face and a rear face, and a pair of substantially parallel legs integrally attached to opposite sides of the head and extending beyond the faces of the head. Each leg has an aperture for mating with the passage of the integral body and engaging a pin. Second, to prevent rotation of the latching arm, a notch on the integral body seats the rear face of the latching arm. Third, a pin is provided for insertion through the apertures of the legs and the passage of the integral body to lock the latching arm in place. This pin engages the final element of the improvement: a locking device prevents the pin from disengaging the apertures and passage. By including an insert into the passage of the integral body, the latching arm can attain multiple fixed positions and the hitch can accommodate a variety of different sized ball couplings.
