A bed comprising a box spring having secured to each lower side framing member of the spring frame a structural rail connected to the like rail on the opposite side of the bed by a leg structure which is pivoted to the said rails, foldable against the underside of the box spring to provide a compact package for shipment but ready for immediate use by unfolding to a locked, erected position.
A loft apparatus for providing a bed loft that is collapsible The loft apparatus includes a frame assembly being designed for supporting the mattress. A plurality of hinge portions are coupled to the frame assembly. The hinge portions downwardly extend from the frame assembly whereby the hinge portions are designed for engaging the floor and support the frame assembly above the floor. A plurality of leg portions are pivotally coupled to the hinge portions. Each of the leg portions is pivotal between a stored position and a deployed position. The stored position is defined by each of the leg portions being positioned substantially parallel to the frame assembly. The deployed positioned is defined by the leg portions extending downwardly from the hinge portions whereby the leg portions are designed for engaging the floor and raising the frame assembly and the hinge portions above the floor.
A hospital bed has two mechanical drive mechanisms connected between each end of a bed support frame and a base, each of which has a respective actuator. Selective operation of each of the drive mechanisms with the actuators permits either end of the bed support frame to be inclined to the Trendelenburg and reverse Trendelenburg positions at any height of the hospital bed. The drive mechanisms transfer forces for raising and lowering the bed support frame but do not transfer force when the bed is lowered onto an obstacle. When an obstacle is encountered, a switch interrupts operation of its respective actuator.
A release mechanism for a locking, pivotable leg for an assembly to allow an individual to use his foot to disengage the locking element which locks the pivotable leg into its operative position in which a plurality of such legs engage a supporting surface. The release mechanism includes a release pin having an enlarged head and transmission means to transmit movement of the release pin to the locking element moving it from its operative locking position. Where the locking element is of a type including a locking pin which is biased into a locking pin hole in a base bracket by biasing means such as a leaf spring, the transmission means of the present invention includes a release pin spring shoulder, a locking pin spring groove and a pin slot in the leaf spring disposed to engage these two components. Movement of the release pin causes the release pin spring shoulder to deflect the leaf spring which deflection is transmitted into movement of the locking pin in turn disengaging the locking pin from the locking pin hole in the base bracket, allowing the leg to pivot freely.
A bedding product comprising a conventional box spring and a pair of support members secured to the inside of the frame of the box spring. Each of the support members comprises an angle element and a pair of brackets from which supporting, adjustable feet depend. The adjustable feet are fixed in position using wing nuts. By loosening the wing nuts and rotating the adjustable feet, the height of the box spring may be adjusted.
