A cover to overlie the open bed of a vehicle afterbody, the cover including a flexible sheet provided in its periphery with a plurality of openings to receive complementally located headed buttons secured about the periphery of the vehicle bed. The cover includes an elongated retainer embedded in the sheet periphery so as to extend across the sheet openings in position to underlie the button heads and thereby secure the cover in position. Use of the retainer enables greater tolerance in the proper locations of the buttons and the sheet openings for receiving them. The retainer also provides a means for attachment of handles to stretch the cover taut.
A flexible cover for mounting over the cargo area of a vehicle such as a pickup truck, boat or the like, having resilient, J-shaped extruded fasteners attached along the edges of the cover for fastening it to extruded aluminum rails mounted on the vehicle sidewalls. The J-shaped fasteners are formed of a resilient plastic which is mated with the rails in such a manner as to accommodate variations in the distance between the cargo box sidewalls, as well as variations in the flexibility of the flexible cover. The extruded members are adapted to be snapped together by applying a downward force on the J-shaped fasteners toward the rail until a lip on the rail snaps into the resilient fastener. The cover is removed by unzipping the J-shaped fastener from the rail to expose the cargo box area.
A flexible cover for mounting over the cargo area of a vehicle such as a pick-up truck, boat or the like, having resilient, J-shaped extruded fasteners attached along the edges of the cover for fastening it to outwardly extending longitudinal edges on rails on the vehicle sidewalls. The J-shaped fasteners are formed of a resilient plastic which is mated with the rails in such a manner as to accommodate variations in the distance between the cargo box sidewalls, as well as variations in the flexibility of the flexible cover. The extruded members are adapted to be snapped together by applying a downward force on the J-shaped fasteners toward the rail until the edge of the rail snaps into the resilient fastener. The cover is removed by unzipping the J-shaped fastener from the rail to expose the cargo box area. To allow the covers to be put in place amd kept taut in both hot and cold weather, one of the rails can be provided with multiple parallel edges defining a channel between each pair of the edges so that one fastener can be brought into engagement with whichever edge will keep the cover taut in the direction perpendicular to that rail. The fastener along one edge can be T-shaped and slid longitudinally into engagement with the appropriate edge.
A tonneau cover for a fifth wheel camper truck is disclosed comprising a supporting frame which is secured to the upper ends of the wall members of the truck box and having a cover extending thereover. The supporting frame comprises a pair of side frame members which are positioned on the upper ends of the side walls of the box, a front frame member extending between the forward ends of the side frame members and a back frame member which extends between the rearward ends of the side frame members. A plurality of spaced apart cross members extend between the side frame members and are arched so that the centers dwell in a plane above the ends thereof. The cover is secured at its periphery to the side frame members by snaps or the like and has an opening formed in the central portion thereof positioned above the fifth wheel mounted in the truck box so that the king pin of a trailer may extend downwardly therethrough. A cap is detachably secured to the cover so as to close the opening during the time that the truck is not being used to pull a trailer. A zipper extends from the rearward end of the cover to the opening so that the cover may be installed on the truck or removed therefrom without disconnecting the truck from the trailer.
A net pen or cage for containing aquatic animals. The pen has a light-weight inexpensive net cover for the top which keeps predators out. The cover is easy to apply and remove and yet is held securely in place by means of studs or posts extending upwardly from the frame of the cage or pen and having enlarged heads which preferably are slightly larger than the holes in the mesh. Preferably the mesh is made up of resilient plastic strands which snap back into their original shape after being deformed by the bolt-heads passing through, so that the bolt heads and the netting together form a snap-fitting fastening system. In one embodiment, panels of materials such plastic netting are suspended in cages so as to attract the growth of algae thereon for feeding algae-eating aquatic animals such as conch, fish, etc. in the cages. The panels are formed into a removable unit so that some of the units and can be suspended in water elsewhere and transferred to the cage to replace units from which the algae has been depleted, thus feeding the aquatic animals by merely replacing algae-depleted units with algae-loaded units.
A mobile pet protection cage that attaches to the bed of a pickup truck in a manner to allow an animal to move between the truck cab and the cage through the back cab window. The cage may be designed for any size truck bed and for large or small animals. The cage may be detachably secured to the truck.
