Abstract
A door hingedly connected to a suitable frame structure by means of hinge structure for enabling the door to be swingably moved about the opposite side extremities of the door. A first pair of rotary bearings are mounted on the upper and lower ends of the door adjacent one extremity thereof, which bearings have arcuate slots therein which coact with arcuate projections provided on the frame and disposed for coaction with the first pair of bearings. A second pair of rotary bearings are mounted on the upper and lower edges of the door adjacent the opposite extremity thereof and include arcuate slots disposed for coaction with a further pair of arcuate projections mounted on the frame, whereby the door can be swingably moved about either extremity thereof.

5133153 - Opening/closing device of a door member - Owned by Sharp Kabushiki Kaisha (Osaka,JP)

An opening/closing device of a door for a refrigerator or the like will open/close the door member at a desired side, namely, at the right side or at the left side, without requiring a movable operating handle. The device is simple in construction, has a high adiabatic efficiency, and can be easily incorporated in the door member. Therefore, no special mechanism is necessary in the door member and no structural change is required inside the door member.

5548926 - Hinge arrangement, and use thereof

A hinge arrangement for hinging a sliding element (2) movable in guidance of, and carried by, a pair of fixed guide sections (1.sup.1, 1.sup.2) for turning about a hinge axle (3) affixed to the sliding element. The hinge arrangement comprises a first coupling member (4), connected to the hinge axle (3), and a second coupling member (5), connected to the guide section (1.sup.1, 1.sup.2), and the first coupling member and the second coupling member are arranged to become coupled with each other when the first coupling member is in register with the second coupling member, and thus to lock the hinge axle (3) relative to the guide section to be substantially immovable, for the turning of said sliding element.

4466676 - Arrangement for a cabinet having a door which can be swung outwards from the cabinet around either of two opposing edges - Owned by Forenade Fabriksverken (Eskilstuna,SE)

Arrangement for cabinet with a door which can be opened at either of two opposing edges. At each of the opposing edges the door is hingedly connected with a side flap which when opened permits access to material stored in the cabinet. Each side flap is capable of being locked to the cabinet by means of two locking devices. When an arbitrary pair of locking devices is unlocked the door together with one side flap can be swung outwards from the cabinet.

4976450 - Mobile tool chest with horizontal pivotal trays

A mechanic's mobile tool chest comprising: a plurality of cantilevered horizontal pivotal tool trays mounted on a chest containing a plurality of drawers enclosed within inwardly recessed top, rear, and side panels. The top panel having a top opening, with the rear and side panels having an outside and top opening. The tool trays are pivotally mounted on posts which are vertically extendible from corners of the chest for positioning the tool trays in an elevated position over vehicle fenders or similar structures. A plurality of cantilevered, horizontal pivotal arms are also mounted on the posts for mounting articulating lamps to illuminate a working area. The chest is mounted on a base with a plurality of wheels and a counterweight attached to prevent over-turn during normal operating conditions with the pivotal tool trays extended. The tool chest may also comprise a door which opens to approximately 260 degrees from either side with inside recessed stowage trays. In excess of about 200 commonly used tools are stowed and displayed in an orderly manner for ready access in the door, top, side, and rear recessed panels of the chest and lower two pivotal tool trays when the door and pivotal trays are extended. The top pivotal tray provides temporary stowage for special tools and parts. Infrequently used tools are stowed in the plurality of drawers.

5530992 - Double-sided hinges

A hinge is described for use along each side of a refrigerator or on furniture to permit safe opening of the door or lid from either side. The hinge is uncomplicated in design, and is comprised of only a few component parts. Each hinge includes a hinge rod forming a swivel axis for the door, said rod held in an axle take-up receiver. At least one and preferably two interlocks are located at or near the top and bottom of each hinge rod. The interlocks comprise a hinge pick-up axially aligned with the swivel axis of the hinge and a hinge element which becomes mechanically coupled to the pick-up when the door is opened in the other direction. Details of the embodiments of the hinge are disclosed. Preferably, magnetic means are used to keep the hinge rod engaged with the swivel axis and to form the airtight seal between the door and the cabinet.
