The carrier comprises a frame assembly, including a substantially rectangular base and wall-forming rods pivotally mounted at the terminal edges of the base and carrier hanger means, and a cover disposed about the exterior of the frame assembly and having fastening means operable to hold walls of the carrier in a folded configuration.
A device for use as a cot on the rear seat of a vehicle formed by a U-shaped frame, the front of which is to be placed adjoining the rear of the front seat of the vehicle. A web of cloth is stretched between the member of the frame, the portion of the cloth on the frame open side resting on the cushion of the rear seat. The front of the frame can have support legs to rest on the floor of the vehicle or straps to be attached to the front seat or another part of the vehicle. The web also can have a strap to be attached to a part of the body to keep the web taut.
An animal carrier for mounting on the seat of an automobile or the like is disclosed comprising upper and lower hoops enclosed in flexible material defining a bag-like container in which the animal is positioned including means permitting connection to a harness for retaining the animal in the device; another embodiment employs articulated frame means connecting the upper hoop to a medial hoop fixedly connected to the lower hoop to provide a collapsible framework for the construction.
A device for blowing small volumes of air across a mattress in a crib to prevent the accumulation of undesirable gases includes a pump, blower or fan, an elongated conduit connected to the pump, blower or fan and positioned adjacent the top surface of the mattress. The conduit has a plurality of longitudinally spaced perforations therein so as to provide a plurality of directed air flows across the top surface of the mattress. The conduit can be rested on the top surface of the mattress, but can also be hung from a vertically adjustable side rail by a vertically extensible telescoping mounting bracket. Dual conduits can be connected to the pump, blower or fan in parallel and positioned at either side of the crib. A method for preventing the accumulation of carbon dioxide around a sleeping infant in a crib includes the steps of placing at least one air conduit having a plurality of perforations therein adjacent to top surface of the mattress, connecting a pump, blower or fan to the air conduit, and pumping the air through the perforations of the conduit so as to provide a plurality of air flows directed substantially horizontally across the top surface of the mattress to disperse carbon dioxide exhaled by the infant and ensure the continued normal breathing by the infant.
A collapsible leaf for a playpen includes a pair of longitudinal bars and a pair of transverse bars releasibly connected at their ends by four corner members and wrapped with piece of cloth a first pair suspenders suspend the pair of transverse bars from a pair of upper rails of the playpen and a second pair of suspenders suspending one of the longitudinal bars from an upper rail of the playpen. The suspenders each has a strap, connected with a buckle and hinged with a hook which includes an elastic pate to facilitate the hook releasable held the rails of the playpen.
A first playpen enclosure that converts easily to a bassinet, a changing table or a bed-side crib (hereinafter referred to as a "co-sleeper") that attaches securely to the parents' bed. A described second enclosure support system maintains a padded enclosure and rigid floor panel at a predetermined level below the top of the playpen to form the bassinet. The second enclosure has a back, two sides, a bottom and a front flap that overhangs the front horizontal rail. The upper front corners are segmented into a removable section and a fixed section to facilitate the removal and unseating of the front horizontal rail to a second position at a first predetermined distance from the top position. Cooperating junctures affixed to the front vertical rails accept the removable sections and securely seat the rail in this second position. The supports, padded enclosure and rigid floor panel complete the changing table with the front flap hanging down in front. The playpen can be placed adjacent the parents' bed with the front flap extended over the bed for use as a co-sleeper. For such use, uniquely designed reinforcing straps secure the unit to the parents' bed and prevent the co-sleeper from sliding, buckling or lifting. The unit is easily folded with the components into a compact package carrying case for transport or storage.
