A grill and guard arrangement adapted to be secured over a poultry feed trough including adjustably secured grid sections one of which may be selectively positioned to effect small feed openings over the trough to accommodate relatively young chickens and prevent their falling into the trough or to effect somewhat larger feed openings over the trough to accommodate older chickens.
An enclosure for poultry is described which has a feeding floor with openings to allow the feeding of the poultry housed therein. The enclosure is provided with a partition which is used to change the effective size of the openings through which the birds gain entry to the feed trough. Smaller openings, suitable for small birds and large openings, suitable for larger birds, are thus provided. When not in use, the partition is pivoted to a vertical position, away from the cage floor so that it does not interfere with the movement of the birds.
A cage battery e.g. for chickens wherein the feeding assembly extending in front of the cage row consists of a feed conveying trough containing a conveyor element and a separate feed trough extending parallel with the conveying trough and recessed into the bottom of the cages.
A portable collapsible livestock feeder comprising a rear panel hingedly attached to a lower container, and a restrainer fibrous feed attached to the rear panel. At least one hinge attaches the rear panel to the lower container. The rear panel is adjacent the lower container in a closed position, and is angularly related to the lower container in an open position. The feeder may be maintained in the open position. The feeder is maintained in the closed position by two L-shaped brackets which are rotatably mounted to the rear panel and which have a locking and a hanging position. In the locking position, the L-shaped brackets engage the lower container when the feeder is in the closed position. In the hanging position, the L-shaped brackets provide for hanging the feeder when the feeder is in the open position. In the preferred embodiment, the rear panel comprises an upper container.
A poultry breeder pan feeder system and method in which a feeder pan assembly having a grille with ribs defining openings for feeding pullets and the like is converted into a female breeder pan assembly by providing such pan assembly for feeding male poultry pullets and the like and inserting an outer grille over the inner grille. The outer grille has ribs that overlap the ribs of the inner grille and cover portions of the feeder openings of the inner grille. The outer grille is adjustable on the inner grille to adjust the size of the openings through which the birds feed. A linear slide valve is provided to adjust the amount of feed dropping into the pan of the feeder so that the feed dropped into the pans can be a preselected amount, can flood the pan, or can be entirely shut off.
