An inductively coupled connector is provided wherein a source of signals is coupled to a first potted toroid. The load for the source of signals is also coupled to a second potted toroid. The toroids are placed adjacent to each other and are interconnected using a single-turn loop. The single-turn loop has some sort of quick fastener so that the toroids may be easily connected or disconnected in an environment such as an underwater environment.
A contactless recharging system and method for recharging an energy storage device onboard an electric vehicle has a primary converter for converting power from a power source into high frequency power. A secondary converter on board the vehicle is coupled to the battery for converting high frequency power into charging power supplied to the energy storage device. The primary and secondary converters are coupled together by a contactless coupling of a conductor loop and a coupling link forming a coaxial winding transformer. The coupling link has a magnetic core and a core-mounted conductor at least partially surrounded by the magnetic core. The core-mounted conductor selectively at least partially surrounds a portion of the conductor loop to transfer power therebetween. The core-mounted conductor is coupled to either the primary or the secondary converter, with the conductor loop being mounted to the other of the primary and the secondary converters.
A method and apparatus for electrical transmission, wherein an electric current is applied to the primary winding of a mains transformer the secondary winding of which consists of at least one spiral, and a corresponding electric current is collected at the secondary winding of at least one distribution transformer, the primary winding of which consists of said spiral, while the secondary winding of the distribution transformer is mounted in a removable member.
A current mode coupler for an unshielded twisted-pair cable includes an elastomeric signal wire and E-core positioning member with integral strain relief, tapered E-cores for improved coupling to the wires, a write signal core which is twice the size of the read signal core, an all metal core suspension, an overcenter spring biased mounting arrangement, a metal enclosure for improved shielding, a resilient latch which avoids the need for pivoting of an upper housing member relative to the base unit during assembly, and contoured edges and corners for reducing heat accumulation.
A transformer, particularly for use in intrinsically safe systems, has separate first and second magnetic cores mounted in wells in a one-piece elastics housing which serves both as a housing and to electrically segregate the cores. Passing through the housing and through the cores is a wire loop which is turned back and joined outside the housing so as to link the two cores electromagnetically. The cores are preferably toroidal cores carrying windings.
An electrical cable has a plurality of bundles extending in a direction of elongation and including three bundles associated with one another, preferably so that a transverse cross-section of the cable extending transversely to a longitudinal direction is substantially triangular, the bundles having different cross-sections, so that a bundle with a smaller cross-section is adapted to transmit a higher frequency current, while a bundle with a greater cross-section is adapted to transmit current with a lower frequency signal, the bundles having one end connectable to an electrical source and another end connectable to a single electrical consumer, so as to provide a range of frequencies.
