A self-operated device for strengthening one's abdominal muscles by means of the impact from a padded cushion, simulated medicine ball or the like and/or the muscular pull in avoiding such impact, on or about the lower torso. The device comprises a pivotally mounted conversely bent rod having an upper cushion which when pushed away from the user will automatically force a lower cushion toward that portion of one's body to be toned thereby. The rod is pivotally mounted on a vertically adjustable rigid support which is removably secured to a member permanently attached to a wall or the like.
An anti-choke releaser apparatus is provided and consists of a spring activated mechanism that is anchored to a flat vertical surface and which will apply a sharp blow to the upper abdomen to aid in the expulsion of an obstruction from the larynx of a choking victim. In a modification the apparatus is in the shape of a gun which can be easily held in the hand and contains a piston that is activated by a trigger releasing gas from a carbon dioxide cartridge to fire the piston having an impact plate into the upper abdomen.
A device to aid victims of choking attacks, by assisting in the expulsion of objects lodged in the larynx through the compression of the upper abdomen and the discharge of air from the lungs, is constructed with anchor means for attachment to a wall, table or other solid object and a hinged connection to a track member along which a slider assembly reciprocates. The slider assembly is provided with an impact pad which may be aimed at the upper abdomen and with handgrips for exerting muscular effort on the pad to cause the compression of the lungs. The track member and the slide are constructed from telescoping tubing segments in the preferred embodiment. The handgrips may be operated either by the victim of the choking attack or by another.
