This specification relates to a detergent. More particularly, it is concerned with a detergent which is a sulfur analog of a polyolether or polyolpolyether.
This application is a continuation-in-part of application Ser. No. 764,362, filed Aug. 7, 1968, now issued as U.S. Pat. No. 3,562,337 which in turn is a divisional of application Ser. No. 502,299 filed Oct. 22, 1965, now issued as U.S. Pat. No. 3,427,248.
New antistatic compounds of formula ##STR1## WHEREIN R.sub.1 is alkyl optionally interrupted by 1 or 2 S, SO or SO.sub.2 moieties or 1 COO moiety, any alkyl(ene) being optionally hydroxyl-substituted; cycloalkyl; alkylcycloalkyl; or a mono- or polyoxyalkylene group terminated by alkyl, optionally alkyl-substituted phenyl or phenylalkyl:, n is 1 or 2; m is an integer 1 to 7; R.sub.2 is (m + 1) valent alkylene optionally interrupted by 1 or 2 O, S, SO or SO.sub.2 moieties; bivalent benzene, cyclohexane, biphenyl, diphenyloxide, -sulphide, -sulphoxide, -sulphone or -methane, 2,2-diphenylpropane, bis-cyclohexylmethane or 2,2-bis-cyclohexylpropane, or a (m + 1) valent mono- or polyoxyalkylene group containing R.sub.2 ; and each R.sub.3, independently, has one of the meanings given for R.sub.1, or is hydrogen or phenyl, naphthyl or phenylalkyl optionally substituted on the aromatic nucleus; a group ##STR2## having the above meanings; or a group ##STR3## in which R.sub.6 is alkyl, perfluoroalkyl or optionally substituted phenyl or naphthyl. Such compounds are useful as antistatic agents for organic materials, particularly a plastics material such as polypropylene, and may either be incorporated in the organic material directly by admixture therewith or indirectly by admixture with a precondensate thereof and subsequent polymerization, or applied as a coating thereon. They can be produced by processes known per se.

Fluorochemical surfactants of the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.f is perfluoroalkyl of 4-20 carbon atoms or perfluoroalkoxyperfluoroalkyl of 4-20 carbon atoms; A is straight or branched chain alkylene of 1-10 carbon atoms which is unsubstituted or substituted by halo; n is 1 to 50; R.sub.1 is hydrogen or alkyl of 1-4 carbon atoms and R.sub.2 is hydrogen or alkyl of 1-4 carbon atoms.
A composition for topical application to the skin contains, as a fatty product to provide a nongreasy protective and emollient film thereon, a polyether oligomer having the formula ##STR1## wherein R is alkyl having 1-12 carbon atoms; R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 represent hydrogen or alkyl having 1-6 carbon atoms, with at least two of R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 being hydrogen; m is 1-4; n has an average value equal to or greater than 2; and the number of carbon atoms in each repetitive unit being at least 4.
Perfluorinated surface-active block or random oligomers of the formula ##STR1## where R denotes a C.sub.2 -C.sub.18 -hydrocarbon or-hydrofluorocarbon radical, Y denotes a C.sub.6 -C.sub.13 -fluorocarbon or-hydrofluorocarbon radical which can contain a chain oxygen atom, Z denotes a group which confers solubility in water and p and q denote integers or decimal numbers from 0.5 to 30 are provided. They are suitable for use in cosmetic compositions for the treatment of hair. They slow down the flow of sebum and the rate at which hair becomes greasy again.
