Abstract
A pack for carrying compressed air or gas-filled cylinders on the back of a human body comprising a flat, rigid frame; first and second substantially U-shaped, rigid, shoulder engaging hangers pivotably connected to an upper portion of the frame; a hip or waist surrounding and engaging belt having disengagable belt portions and belt fastening means securing the belt portions together; and a rectangular fabric sheet connected between a lower portion of the frame and the belt. The upper end of the fabric sheet is connectable at any one of a plurality of positions along the frame with the remainder of the fabric sheet extending downwardly. The lower end of the fabric sheet is fixedly connected to the belt. Finally, any one of a plurality of intermediate positions along the fabric sheet is connectable at any one of a plurality of positions along the lower portion of the frame to adjust the overall length between the hangers and the belt and also the length between the belt and the selected position along the lower portion of the frame.

An emergency neck restraint for small children and infants. This restraint is designed to be adjustable to fit the necks of infants and toddlers. It is made from a rectangular sheet which is reinforced on its edges. Attached to the edges of this sheet are two pairs of straps. The straps from one side of the sheet connect with the straps from the other side of the sheet. Between these straps are two slits in the sheet. When the invention is used the sheet is folded. and rolled toward and up to the slits. This rolled sheet is placed behind a patient's neck and the roll is folded in a U-shaped support around the patient's neck. The ends of the roll are connected with one pair of straps. The unrolled portion of the sheet can be folded under the patient's shoulders to align the cervical spine.

A backpack permits the wearer to adjust the shoulder straps, backband, and waistband to his individual needs or desires. An integral molded plastic frame is specially contoured to avoid restrictions of motion on the person wearing it. The frame is provided with a number of slots which permit attachment of the sack and adjustment of the locations at which the shoulder straps, backband and waistband or belt are attached. The shoulder straps include loops of material which fit through the slot and are held in the desired position by a specially designed removable fastener. The waistband may also be sized to the individual wearer's requirements by selectively adding or removing one of a plurality of pads which are threaded onto the belt for comfort.

The piece may be corrugated for additional strength, and is specially molded to conform to the lumbar region, shoulders, back and head of a human wearer so as to minimize interference with the free movement of the wearer's back, shoulders and head. An alternative embodiment provides contours adapted to receive the shoulder straps of the backpack to avoid their rubbing against the back of the user.

A diving back plate designed with independent shoulder and waist straps. The diving back plate accommodates either a single tank or double tank configuration without the need for an adapter. The independent straps are self-fastening to the back plate through a series of throughslots on the back plate. Items and accessories may be permanently attached to the independent straps while the straps remain fully adjustable and removable. The configuration of the back plate, throughslots, and throughbores eliminate the need for adapters when changing between a single tank configuration and a double tank configuration.
