Abstract
Broadcasting devices as used in agriculture and horticulture having a container and a rotary or oscillating distributor are fitted with a charge blender in the form of an upright modified Archimedean Screw driven by the distributor to lift, mix and blend charge material in the container so as to enable a charge of different particulate or powdered materials placed individually in the container to be blended into a homogeneous mix immediately prior to broadcasting. The charge blender conveniently consists of a single-flight Archimedean Screw of upwardly increasing diameter and shaped, e.g. inclined or notched, so as to act as a low-efficiency auger when rotated in a mass of particulate material.

4365730 - Dynamic pressure relief device for storage elevation

A pressure relief device for use in a storage elevator for reducing the dynamic pressure imposed on the walls of a storage elevator during a discharging operation which includes a screw which extends longitudinally along the interior of the storage elevator and in spaced relationship to the vertically extending side walls of the elevator. The screw may be fixed or rotatably mounted.

5082188 - Apparatus for processing material - Owned by Sterling Grinding Company, Inc. (Sterling, CO)

Apparatus is disclosed for reducing the particle size of various materials (e.g., grains, forage materials, fibrous materials, bulk materials, disposed materials, etc.). The apparatus includes a housing including a circular interior wall, a rotor member which is rotatably mounted in the housing, a plurality of blades or hammers attached at one end to the periphery of the rotor, drive means for driving the rotor within the housing, and feed means for feeding the material to the rotor in substantially full face feed. An annular channel or chamber is defined between the rotor and the interior wall of the housing. The blade members extend into the channel or chamber. After the material has been reduced in particle size by the blades or hammers it passes into a cavity adjacent to the annular channel or chamber and the rotor. The cavity includes an unrestricted discharge opening for exit of the processed material.

4395131 - Apparatus for agitating, conveying and weighing particulate material - Owned by O. A. Newton & Son Company (Bridgeville, DE)

The present invention relates to an apparatus for agitating, conveying and weighing particulate material. An agitator is provided including a generally cylindrical housing having end walls with bearings in them. An agitator is provided in the housing, including a pair of end members having openings therein; stub shafts are supported by shaft hangers and extend through the end wall bearings and the end members, for ready removal, axially, permitting removal of the agitator in a radial direction through an opening in the housing. A screw conveyor beneath the agitator has a housing removably connected to the agitator housing. A single direct current drive motor is provided, connected by sprockets and chains to the agitator shaft and to the shaft of the screw conveyor. The screw conveyor has a delivery conduit of short extent, connected to a transverse gate valve, below which is a weighing hopper, comprising a receiver and a scale, and the screw conveyor is provided with comminuting elements to insure uniform specific gravity of material passing from it to the receiver of the weighing hopper, to provide accuracy of the weighed amount of material.

6910646 - Aggregate spreader and methods of use

An aggregate spreader having a container, a mounting flange, and a spreading assembly is provided. The container has an aggregate receiving cavity. The mounting flange extends from the container to removably connect the container to a stick of a tractor so that the container is movable by a hydraulic cylinder of the tractor between a spreading position and a loading position. The spreading assembly spreads aggregate disposable in the aggregate receiving cavity.
