Abstract
A mechanical breakup aerosol valve button or actuator with an annular feed chamber which feeds passageways leading into a central swirl chamber immediately ahead of the forward portion of a cylindrical terminal orifice feed post which includes a centrally disposed cavity formed in the face thereof and immediately behind a recessed terminal orifice contained within a terminal orifice which cooperate to produce a homogeneous spray pattern.

5054692 - Fluid discharge apparatus - Owned by Contico Internation, Inc. (St. Louis, MO)

A fluid discharge apparatus for imparting a stream configuration to a current of fluid. The fluid discharge apparatus includes a nozzle containing a passageway having at least a receiving portion with a substantially rectilinear cross-section and an issuing portion with a substantially curvilinear cross-section, such that a fluid current passing through the passageway emerges therefrom in a stream configuration. The nozzle may be pivotably connected to a second nozzle. The second nozzle is adapted for incorporation into a sprayer-type fluid dispenser, and contains a second passageway. Pivoting of the first nozzle towards, and its consequent attachment to, the second nozzle brings the first and second passageways into sealed communication. This permits the fluid current generated by the sprayer apparatus to be dispensed as either a spray, when the first nozzle is not attached to the second nozzle, or as a stream, when the first nozzle is so attached.

5516045 - Pushbutton intended to be fitted to a valve or a pump equipping a dispenser, and dispenser including such a pushbutton - Owned by L'Oreal (Paris,FR)

The pushbutton (1) for mounting on a valve or a pump of a dispenser enables, by actuation of the pushbutton, liquid contained in a container to be sprayed through at least two spraying nozzles (5, 6) provided in the pushbutton and connected to a central channel (4) of the pushbutton. Each nozzle (5, 6) has an axis (A5, A6) oriented substantially transversally with respect to the axis (A4) of the central channel (4) of the pushbutton. The axes of the spraying nozzles of the pushbutton being situated in the same plane, the axes (A5, A6) of the spraying nozzles form between each other an angle (B, C) between 1.degree. and 40.degree. and the nozzles (5, 6 are supplied by means of two conduits (7, 9) whose axes are parallel.

5738282 - Pump sprayer nozzle for producing a solid spray pattern - Owned by Calmar Inc. (City of Industry, CA)

A manually actuated pump sprayer of the type having a discharge nozzle cap in engagement with a probe, spin mechanics formed between the cap and the probe. A generally cylindrical fluid flow dampening chamber, formed at the end of the probe in communication with the spin chamber or being integrated with the spin chamber, has a non-smooth sidewall defined by at least one projection extending toward the axis of the probe for reducing spin energy of the fluid spinning in the dampening chamber and/or in the spin chamber about the axis to effect a solid spray cone of fluid exiting the orifice.

4020979 - Squeeze-bottle-type spray dispenser - Owned by Summit Packaging Systems, Inc. (Londonderry, NH)

Closure for squeeze bottle is provided with swirl chamber into which liquid and air from inside the bottle are introduced. Either the liquid or the air, or both, are introduced to chamber tangentially, and air and liquid are worked therein under conditions of high shear. Fine, well-atomized mist discharges from central orifice from chamber. Orifice may be aimed axially or angularly to axis of container.

4311256 - Mechanical breakup actuator - Owned by Diamond International Corporation (New York, NY)

A valve actuator, usable in pump-type and aerosol fluid product dispensers, includes a one-piece part mounted on the plunger or valve stem of the dispenser for axial reciprocating movement therewith and for rotation relative thereto. The upper end of the plunger or stem has a cylindrical segment covering a cavity surrounding the discharge orifice and a tangentially extending groove so as to form, in a first relative position of the actuator, a swirl chamber and a fluid passage which is open beyond the periphery of the segment so as to establish communication between the outlet of the plunger and the orifice via the fluid passage to thereby effect a fluid spray from the swirl chamber upon plunger reciprocation. In a second relative position of the actuator, the segment uncovers the groove and cavity so as to establish direct communication between the plunger outlet and the discharge orifice so that the fluid is discharged as a solid fluid through the orifice upon plunger reciprocation.
