Abstract
A stretcher including means which facilitates the transfer of a patient between a bed and the stretcher is disclosed. The stretcher includes actuators for controlling the vertical position of the appliance and also for imparting angular movement to transfer means which can be extended from the appliance. Additionally, the device may be provided with further actuators which are employed to convert the stretcher into a wheel chair by rotating back and foot support platforms relative to a central support member.

A stretcher for handling and carrying patients is constructed with a set of two frames, which consists of a carrying frame and an auxiliary frame, with the frames capable of being drawn in and out of each other sideways relatively to each other.

4012799 - Apparatus and method for transferring a patient from one bed to another

A sled board for transferring a patient from one bed to another. In a first embodiment, a plurality of sled boards are placed beneath a patient and the sled boards are simultaneously slid from one bed to another. The patient remains on top of the sled boards, and the sled boards carry the patient from one bed to the other. In a second embodiment, the sled boards, each having a transverse fin projecting from its bottom surface, extend from one bed to the other. The fins are inserted between the beds to prevent longitudinal movement of the sled boards. One end of the sled boards is placed beneath the patient, and the patient is slid from one bed to the other on the top surface of the sled boards.

4644594 - Patient transport device

A patient transport device which is characterized in one embodiment by a flat rail bed having spaced, parallel, upturned rails on opposite sides, with a seat slidably disposed over the rails by means of rollers rotating in the rails on spaced axles carried by the seat. The device is designed to transport patients from one side of a bed to the other, as well as to and from wheelchairs and dollys. In another embodiment, the seat is enlarged to define a body support, the body support and rail bed combination is supported by hydraulic cylinders to facilitate height adjustment and the larger patient transport device is used to transport patients to and from x-ray tables, dollys, hospital beds and the like.

4953245 - Device for moving patients who are confined to bed

A device (10) for moving patients who are confined to bed comprises a travelling undercarriage which can be locked in place by means of a locking brake (84), a stretcher support (16) which can be adjusted vertically and laterally relative to the undercarriage (16) and a locking gear (90) for the stretcher support (16). In order to obtain a stabilizing system securing the arrangement against tilting, which is easy to operate, it is proposed to provide a solid block (14) carrying the said vertically adjustable stretcher support (16) which block is carried itself by at least one guide element (34, 36) extending transversely in the said undercarriage (12) in such a manner that it can be displaced in transverse direction between two lateral end positions, with the locking gear comprising stop means which is arranged at the block (14), which can be controlled from the said stretcher support (16) and engaged in recesses provided on the guide element (34, 36) for blocking the relative movement between the block (14) and the undercarriage (12).

5438722 - Patient transfer chair system

A patient transfer device comprises a cushioned chair with wheels that facilitates patient transfer in and out of a hospital clinical bed. The patient transfer device provides an entirely different method of transferring patients that avoids lifting the total body weight of the patient and that provides the maximum comfort for the patient.
