Abstract
Elongated rigid leg members are pivotally connected to one another at their ends and provided with oppositely facing magnetic elements for clamping opposite sides of a sheet of paper or the like. Two center members may be hinged together at one end with an additional member pivoted to the other end of each of the two center members to permit folding about mutually perpendicular axes. The device is used primarily to clamp open large documents such as blueprints and the like that are normally stored in a rolled condition. The members are placed in opposing parallel relationship on either side of the document and extended along the document length so that the magnetic members will coact to clamp the document in a flat, open condition.

6812817 - Versatile magnetic holder - Owned by Dragonslayer Investments Inc. (Maple Ridge,CA)

The invention provides a versatile magnetic holder which is capable of holding objects which are sensitive to magnetic fields, such as ferrous coins, capable of holding items comprising an enclosed loop, such as key chains, and capable of holding thin articles, such as paper currency, which can be held between two adjacent flat elements pressing against one another. The magnetic holder is also capable of securing larger objects against a ferrous portion of another object. The apparatus comprises three longitudinal flat members, each member comprising two magnets protruding from one face, linked through one another via a loop-shaped element extending through a hole positioned at an extremity of each longitudinal member. For maximum versatility, when all three longitudinal members are magnetically secured to one another, the top face of two of the longitudinal members faces in opposite direction to the front face of the third longitudinal member.

4203227 - Telescopic straight edge

A straight edge for use in construction formed of a plurality of members joined by hinges to an end member fitted with a slidable section mounted by a dovetail groove and tongue. The butt sections of each member are fitted with a magnet at each hinge joint so as to latch the unfolded members together in the extended position.

5201782 - Universally-adjustable axle-mountable tool for truing a bicycle wheel

A bicycle wheel truing tool includes a middle and two outer elongated rigid segments having the same lengths and shapes. The segments are pivotally connected together to permit erecting of the tool from a storage condition in which the segments are retracted to a nested relationship to an operational condition in which the segments are extended to an end-to-end relationship. The tool has a length in the storage condition which is about one-third that in the operational condition. Each tool segment is similarly progressively twisted along its longitudinal extent such that the opposite end portions of the segment lie in respective planes oriented in a generally transverse relationship to one another. The truing tool also includes a pair of releasably adjustable clamping mechanism pivotally connecting opposite end portions of the middle segment with adjacent end portions of the two outer segments. In the operational condition of the tool, one outer segment at one end portion thereof can be temporarily fixedly mounted to an end of the wheel axle. The clamping mechanisms can be released and retightened to adjustably pivot the middle segment and other outer segment relative to one another and to the one outer segment to place an end portion of the other outer tool segment having a reference edge defined thereon at a desired stationary position adjacent to the wheel rim to aid in visually gauging the trueness thereof.

4735132 - Insulating enclosure for recessed ceiling exhaust fan

An insulating enclosure for recessed ceiling exhaust fan is disclosed. The insulating enclosure (10) comprises a rectangular frame (22) attached to the frame (24) of the lower panel (18). The frame (22) of the insulating enclosure (10) fits snugly against the ceiling (16). The insulating enclosure (10) further comprises a removable insulating panel (26) which fits snugly into the rectangular frame (22). One side of the insulating panel (26) has a lip (28) which fits into a channel (30) on the inside of one side of frame (22). Thus, lip (28) may be inserted into channel (30) so as to hold up one side of panel (26) while the other side is pushed into place in its frame (22). After panel (26) is in position it will be held up on one side by lip (28) and on the other side by latch (32).

5042640 - Gripping and conveying apparatus - Owned by IDAB Incorporated (Hialeah, FL)

A gripping and conveying apparatus includes at least one gripper having jaws which are supported in an orientation where the jaws are attracted together by gravity. Magnets are mounted in the opposing surfaces of the jaws to hold the jaws together and grip the articles to be conveyed. The grippers are mounted on a breakaway arm mechanism. Cams and cam followers are used to separate the jaws at selected locations.
