Abstract
A programmed skiing simulater, trainer and exerciser. The machine comprises an inclined board over which two simulated skiis move. Each of the skiis is both pivotable and slidable at one end on slide-ball-pivot points. The other end of each ski also rides on a similar ball-pivot point, mounted on a wheel carriage, enabling the ski end to swing in a wide curve from one side to the other, in a programmed arc. The skiis are provided with tubular slotted tracks underneath, thus permitting them to tilt from side to side and slide on the pivot points while turning. By interchanging the wheel carriages with a differently designed "avalement" wheel carriage different movements may be performed.

4252312 - Gymnastic apparatus for executing simulated skiing movements - Owned by Establissement Ariabel (Vaduz,LI)

Indoor gymnastic apparatus allowing the user to execute skiing movements including a base upon which a movable plate is mounted by means of a connecting mechanism. The connecting mechanism includes a ball bearing to permit the plate to rotate in the horizontal plane and a height adjusting mechanism enabling the plate to rock back and forth.

5533950 - Attaching surface for aquatic exercise devices and users

A support base for use with aquatic exercise devices and stabilizer which includes a body having apertures that receives and releasably secures a support for an exercise device to the base. The apertures in the base also receives and releasably secures stabilizing members which provides a way to support the exercising position of a person exercising with the device. Support base sections are also disclosed with a connecting structure to join the sections together to form a support base, and mounting structure to attach the base to the bottom of the pool, and to level the base.

4645202 - Pre-skiing exercise implement - Owned by Metalmeccanica Fracasso S.p.A. (Venice,IT)

A pre-skiing exercise device which permits body and leg movements similar to those performed when turning (Christiania-like) to the right and to the left during a downhill run. The device comprises two support bars (2) in parallel, side-by-side relation and arranged for attachment of ski-boots, either directly or through the respective ski (4). The rear sections of the support bars (2) slidably bear on an inverted V-shaped supporting cross member (6), and at an intermediate position on an articulated bar-supporting device (7), in which each of the bars (2) can rock independently of the other about an associated horizontal axis of inclination (X) transversal thereto, and both bars (2) can simultaneously perform concordant equal angular movements around associated upstanding axes of rotation (Y), which are vertical or preferably inclined rearwardly toward the inverted V rear supporting cross member (6).

4795146 - Training device for cross-country skiers and ice skaters

An apparatus for training cross-country skiers and ice skaters has a frame having a center support and two bars, the rear ends of which are connected to said frame in such a manner as to be pivotable about vertical axes. The center support and the bars have respective standing surfaces with threaded bores of the attachment of cross-country ski bindings. The bars are held together by at least one spring and support rollers on their forward ends which rotate about horizontal axes. The hip muscles, thigh extensors and gluteal muscles can be exercised with this apparatus.

5759139 - Lunge poles - Owned by Fitness Quest, Inc. (Canton, OH)

Lunge poles used to assist a user in maintaining his or her balance while performing lunges include a base, a pair of resilient couplings mounted on the base and a pair of tubular poles extending from the resilient couplings. The base is generally planar and includes four outwardly extending feet having rubber pads on the bottom thereof to frictionally retain the base in position on a floor. A pair of holes is formed in the top of the base for receiving the resilient couplings. An annular groove is formed in the couplings for snap-fitting the couplings with the holes of the base. The couplings include an elongated tapered stem which extends downwardly into the base and a criss-crossed shaped top portion for receiving a bottom end of the tubular poles. A middle section of the couplings is tapered downwardly forming a thin neck which allows the couplings to pivot on the base in a 360.degree. range of motion. A large circular flange is formed on the couplings to prevent the resilient couplings from being pushed through the holes of the base. Each pole includes an upper section which engages a lower section. A foam handle is disposed around a top end of the upper section of each pole. The poles pivot with the user while the user is performing lunges. The lunges provide a cardiovascular workout while working the user's lower body and the pivotal movement of the poles provide an upper body workout. A resilient band is removably attachable between each pole to selectively increase the resistance therebetween, allowing the user to increase the intensity of the upper body workout.
