A micrometer mixer is used to comminutize (shave) pigment bars and mix it with plastic pieces. The mixture is passed into a plastic articles forming machine. The micrometer mixer includes a rotary cutter against which a pigment bar is advanced at a controlled rate.
Apparatus for grinding pigment and for introducing predetermined amounts of pigment to plastic material being fed to an injection molding machine. The pigment is ground from bars by a helical grinder energized by variable speed means which controls the ratio of pigment to plastic in the feed to the injection screw. Positive displacement pigment feeding means is included having automatic disengagement means associated with the feeding means for disengaging the latter when the pigment material has become substantially exhausted. The feeding means is chain driven and is adjustable relative to the chain to ensure there is no slack between the feeding means and the pigment bars.
A method for producing sculpturesque polyresin models in horticulture use includes the following steps. First, a prototype (21) is directly made of sand stone. Then a mold (22) is made according to the shape of the prototype (21). The raw material of sculpturesque polyresin models including polyresin, hardeners, sand, cement and colored powders is then mixed together. After that, the polyresin mixture (23) is liquefied to a phase (24) and injected into the mold. The liquefied polyresin mixture (23)in the mold is then solidified to form a solid model (25). The intermediate model (25) is then put through a cleaning and evening process (26), and after assembling any desired accessory (27), final product is formed.
An apparatus is disclosed for comminuting a colored pigment bar and mixing the comminuted pigment with an uncolored plastic material to form a colored plastic material which is subsequently molded or extruded into a colored plastic article. The apparatus features a rotating, discontinuous cutting blade to minimize static electricity formation so as to allow more thorough mixing of the pigment with the uncolored material. A storage mechanism is also disclosed to store the colored pigment bars and bring them into contact with the cutting blade.
A micrometer mixer having a rotary cutter with a replaceable shaver means is used to powderize pigment bars and mix it with plastic pieces. The apparatus further has a hopper and chute mechanism and a controllable trigger mechanism to automatically feed the pigment bar to the replaceable shaver means.
