Abstract
A machine for moving a massaging roller lineally along a path beneath a sheet of material which covers an elongated slot in a table or cabinet top, which table or cabinet is usually covered with upholstery material, and overlies a sheet of material which may be urged upwardly against the upholstering material and the spinal area of the person lying on the table to be massaged, when the machine is in operation. The roller is moved substantially the length of the spine, in a timed sequence and under controlled resilient pressure, so as to relax the muscles and relieve tension of the nerves of the spinal area. Provision is made for moving the roller, which is preferably faced with a cushioning material, by means of a motor which drives an endless chain, with the travel of the roller preferably being the length of the adult spine. The roller is mounted to move back and forth in timed relation, with the upward pressure on the roller being regulated to give the most desirable effect on the back muscles and on the spine.

5807288 - Pad-type roller massager

A pad type roller massager comprising an upper supporting bracket and a lower supporting brackets, an upper bracket cover and a lower bracket cover, a driving mechanism, a guiding column A, a sliding block, an eccentric motor, a positioning cover for motor, a position controller, a plurality of screws S, and a rollers assembly is provided. The upper and lower supporting brackets are connected by those pair of guiding column which are parallel with each other. A sliding block is moveably attached to the guiding columns and may move upward and downward along the guiding columns. The upper supporting bracket is enclosed with an upper bracket cover and the upper supporting bracket is rotationally disposed with a pulley therein. The lower supporting bracket is also enclosed with a lower bracket cover and the lower supporting bracket is disposed with a worm gear motor which in turn meshed with a worm gear having a pulley formed thereof. A belt is guided via the pulley and the worm gear having pulley. The free end of the belt are fixedly attached to the sliding block. Consequently, when the worm gear motor is rotated, the belt as well as the sliding block is moved upward and downward. The sliding block is further provided with a position controller which can reverse the rotating direction of the worm gear motor when the controller reach to the upper or lower supporting brackets. A plurality of rollers assemblies are carried by the sliding block and which may exert a massaging movement to the muscle when the rollers assemblies are moved along the guiding columns. The sliding block is further provided with an eccentric motor which provides vibration to the sliding block. As a result, the massager is featured with a three dimensional massaging movement.

5653679 - Massaging machine

A massaging machine which uses a plurality of spring-loaded metal fingers which move vertically up and down the back of an individual sitting in a chair. A relatively large portion of the back is involved and the action simulates that of a skilled masseur thus providing relief from stress and pain.

4886051 - Massaging bed

A massaging bed that provides a deep penetrating massage utilizes a narrow tread roller assembly reciprocated by a carriage beneath a flexible cover member. The roller assembly provides essentially point contact with the user's body such that the upward force of the roller assembly is concentrated in a small area which by virtue of the rotation of the roller assembly and reciprocation of the carriage moves laterally and longitudinally in a non-repetitive pattern.

4586493 - Therapy table

The therapy table has a supporting surface for supporting a patient. A carriage below the supporting surface carries a roller mechanism that acts on the body. A motor translates the carriage relative to the supporting sruface, and the patient. A counterbalance arm including a mass mounted on the arm urges the rollers against the patient at a predetermined force. The mass is adjustable along the counterbalance arm to adjust the movement of the mass acting on the counterbalance arm for adjusting the force of the rollers against the patient.

4875470 - Reciprocating rolling massager with varying pressure and varying wheel placement

An improved body massaging device which is particularly suited to massaging the back and spinal area is disclosed. The device comprises a body supporting surface having an axially reciprocable carriage means positioned generally thereabove. A massaging assembly is attached to and extends downwardly from the carriage means. The massaging assembly includes at least one body contacting means operative to exert pressure upon a human body positioned on the body supporting surface while undergoing axial reciprocation along the length of the subject's spine. The body supporting surface may comprise a standard examining table or any other horizontal surface upon which a human being may lie in a generally prone position. The body contacting means of the massaging assembly may comprise two separate rotatable massage wheels positioned such that one wheel will contact the body on each lateral side of the subject's spine while the subject lies in a prone position on the body supporting surface. The device may include a means for continually or incrementally altering the spacing between such massage wheels during the course of a treatment session. Also, the device may include a separate means for continually or incrementally increasing/decreasing the downward pressure applied by the massaging assembly on the body. High pressure limit switches may be provided to prevent over pressurization of the subject's body.
