Abstract
A device or instrument for accurately measuring the important variables of a golf club to determine if the club is suitable to the requirements of a particular player. By adjustments of various part of the instrument, the loft, lie, face angle and face height of a golf club, which has been applied to the device, can be quickly and accurately determined.

4817294 - Club head angle measuring instrument

A club head angle measuring instrument comprises a balance base, a graduated curve, an adjusting rod, an indicator, a club holder and a slide unit. The adjusting rod is connected with the graduated curve at the rear end. The club holder fixed to the adjusting rod is used to hold the shaft of the club. The indicator is used to adjust the angle. The balance base has a balance block for the club head to rest. A special protractor is provided to set the angle of inclination of the club head. The slide unit has a pair of angle gauges for adjusting the sole angle, and a pair of triangular balance plates for adjusting the balance of the club head. It can be used for the manufacturer to set and correct the angle of the club head, for the distributor to assemble the club, and for the golfer to use the clubs.

4094072 - Golf club fixture

A fixture to facilitate measuring and adjusting the loft and lie angles of a golf club or iron comprises a guide having a plane indexing surface pivotally adjustable to various standard loft angles, and having upper and lower shoes for clamping the head of the club therebetween in predetermined alignment whereat the score lines on the club face are horizontal, the face is flush with the indexing surface, and the sole of the head is seated on the lower shoe at only two locations adjacent the rounded junctures respectively of the sole with the heel and toe of the head, the latter location being elevated with respect to the former. The upper shoe is movable parallel to the indexing surface toward the lower shoe in the clamping action, has a rounded cam engageable with only a mid-location of the top edge of the head for camming the head toward the indexing surface and lower shoe, and has limited universal lost motion for adjusting the cam to the angle of the top edge during the clamping action. A protractor selectively movable with respect to the club shaft has a loft angle indicator pivotal about a horizontal axis into parallelism with the shaft for indicating the deviation from a standard loft angle, and has a lie angle indicator pivotal on the loft indicator into parallelism with the shaft for indicating the lie angle.

4858332 - Loft-lie tester for golf clubs - Owned by United States Golf Association (Far Hills, NJ)

The tester for measuring the loft and lie of a matched set of irons includes a pair of holding units having jaws which mount each club of the set on a fixed common axis. The fixed axis is used as a reference axis in order to measure the lie and loft of a mounted club. The face progression of each club may also be obtained at the time that the loft and lie of the club is obtained.

4549357 - Golf club adjuster

A golf club adjuster employs a base within which the head of a golf club is immobilized for purposes of adjusting the lie and loft angles of the club. The surface of the base which contacts the sole of the golf club head is inclined relative to the horizontal at an angle of between about 20.degree. and about 40.degree.. The surface of the base which contacts the face of the golf club head is inclined relative to the vertical at an angle of between about 5.degree. and about 30.degree.. When a golf club head is immobilized in a base having such a configuration the neck of the club can be twisted, for adjustment as necessary, to properly define a fulcrum so as to impart spin to a golf ball struck by a player who uses an oval swing.

6449860 - Golf club measuring apparatus

A golf club measuring apparatus for measuring the face progression, lie angle, loft angle of a face includes a base having a flat top reference surface, and a club-holding assembly pivotally mounted on the base for pivotal movement. A shaft of a golf club is grasped by the club-holding assembly with a space kept from the reference plane. An orientation of an iron club is regulated by a club face regulator while an orientation of a wooden club is regulated by a measuring piece.
