Abstract
1. An aerosol bomb comprising an elongated cylindrical casing, a transverse all in said casing having a rupturable diaphragm and defining a pressure chamber in the front end of said casing, said pressure chamber containing a compressed normally gaseous medium, a set of rotating tail vanes and a nozzle in the opposite end of said casing, a flexible sealed aerosol container within said casing adjacent said nozzle, penetrating means, within said casing, associated with said nozzle and adapted to penetrate said flexible container and conduct its contents to said nozzle, spring biased inertia means between said pressure chamber and said flexible container, said inertia means being held against the bias of the spring by means of centrifugally disengaging pawls, said inertia means serving to move forward, upon impact of the bomb, to penetrate said rupturable diaphragm and to release the gaseous pressure medium in the pressure chamber, said spring bias serving to force the inertia member in the opposite direction to impale the flexible aerosol container on the penetrating means whereby the released gaseous pressure from the pressure chamber serves to collapse said flexible container and expel its contents through the nozzle.

4044684 - Aerosol projectile for lachrymating material - Owned by Federal Laboratories, Inc. (Saltsburg, PA)

A projectile for dispensing an aerosol of lachrymating irritant material in which the aerosol material is ejected through a nozzle only after firing from a gun or weapon launcher and has imported within the target area. Safety means is provided to prevent premature discharge of the aerosol.

4195572 - Pressurized projectile for delivering and dispensing liquids or particulates - Owned by Federal Laboratories, Inc. (Saltsburg, PA)

A projectile suitable for launching by a gun or similar weapon, having a hollow housing within which there is carried a pressurized container having the material to be delivered therein. A piercing pin within the housing is spaced from the bottom of the container. When the projectile is launched by the firing of the weapon, the inertia of the container causes the piercing pin to penetrate the bottom of the container. The pin and container remain together until the projectile's forward motion is sharply reduced as by striking an object or the ground. The piercing pin is thereby dislodged, releasing the delivered material under pressure into the atmosphere. Stabilizing fins and weights are provided to control the flight of the projectile.

4627354 - Launchable aerosol grenade - Owned by Diamond; George B. (Glen Gardner, NJ)

A projectile for delivering to a target a can containing pressurized material which is to be dispersed over the area of target. The projectile includes a cylindrical hollow housing to the rear end of which is attached a launching tube with a fin assembly. The can is slidably disposed within the housing. There is a space between a cap which closes the forward end of the housing and the can in the housing. The can slides forward in the housing toward the cap upon impact of the cap against the target. This opens a valve which releases the contents of the sealed can into the housing, and this, in turn, blows the cap off the housing so that the released material is dispersed over the target area. With the present projectile, the sealed can is not breached before the projectile strikes its target and the contents of the can may be dispersed in a very short time.

4667601 - Launchable aerosol grenade - Owned by Diamond; George B. (Glen Gardner, NJ) [*] Notice:The portion of the term of this patent subsequent to December 9, 2003 has been disclaimed.

A projectile for delivering to a target a can containing pressurized material which is to be dispersed over the area of target. In one embodiment, the projectile includes a cylindrical hollow housing to the rear end of which is attached a launching tube with a fin assembly. In another embodiment, the can itself has the launching tube and fin assembly attached to its bottom. Instead of being enclosed in a housing, the top of the can carries a cap which closes the top of the can and which cap is detented spaced away from the dispensing nozzle. The detented cooperation between the cap and the can permits the cap to collapse against the dispensing nozzle upon impact of the cap against the target, and this activates the nozzle for release of the material inside the cap. With both embodiments, upon release of the material inside the cap, the cap or housing is blown off, enabling dispersion of the material in the can. With the present projectile, the sealed can is not breached before the projectile strikes its target and the contents of the can may be dispersed in a short time.

7412929 - Diversionary device - Owned by Law Enforcement Technologies, Inc. (Colorado Springs, CO)

A diversion device capable of generating a disorientating flash and a disorientating sound without an explosion has a housing with a cavity containing an inert gas, a piston and a powder. The powder creates the flash via ignition after exiting the device. The device also includes a mechanism configured to ensure the powder encompasses the device upon exit and does is not dispersed in a substantially horizontal plane. In addition, the device may include devices capable of creating a disorientating sound as the inert gas escapes the device.
