Fungicidal and bactericidal compositions comprising, and methods of combating fungi and bacteria using 3-azolylpropynes of the general formula ##SPC1## In which R.sup.1 is hydrogen, chlorine, bromine, iodine, alkyl, an optionally substituted aryl, aryloxyalkyl, arylthioalkyl, arylaminoalkyl or arylalkylaminoalkyl group, alkoxyalkyl, alkylmercaptoalkyl, alkylaminoalkyl, or dialkylaminoalkyl wherein the two alkyl radicals of the dialkylamino moiety may form, with the amine nitrogen atom, a five-membered to seven-membered ring that may contain at least one further hetero-atom or hetero-group, R.sup.2 is alkyl, optionally substituted cycloalkyl or optionally substituted aryl, R.sup.3, r.sup.4 and R.sup.5 each independently is hydrogen, alkyl, alkoxy, alkylmercapto or an electronegative substituent, and Az represents an optionally substituted five-membered heterocyclic radical containing one or more nitrogen atoms, Or their salts.
