A bellcrank and control rod connection configuration achieving projectile damage tolerance through a combination of redundant pivots. Rod ends are connected to a bellcrank in a double pivot fashion so that should either pivot connection become disabled the other pivot connection will permit the maintenance of satisfactory control.
A pushrod-to-bellcrank attachment includes a primary pivot connection and two secondary pin and slot connections so arranged relative to each other that there is a continuing operative connection of the pushrod to the bellcrank in the event the primary connection is lost by small arms fire. When the primary pivot is lost, the pins of the secondary connections act in conjunction with the slots, which are arcuate, as a large bearing struck about the primary pivot to maintain the rod and the bellcrank in their original relative positions about the primary pivot with no introduction of lost motion between bellcrank and rod.
A pivotal joint in which a first member having a wheel-shaped end is pivotally connected to a second member having a forked end enveloping the wheel-shaped end and including a primary pivot bolt arrangement extending through the first and second members at the center of the wheel-shaped end to pivotally join the parts, as the primary pivotal connection therebetween and wherein the forked end of the second member presents a circumferential array of three friction surfaces which will cooperate with the periphery of the wheel-shaped end of the first member to pivotally join the two parts as the secondary pivotal connection therebetween if the primary pivot connection fails.
In accordance with the present invention, there is provided an improved anchoring structure for a self-standing seat belt unit adapted to be anchored to a side portion of a vehicle seat. The anchoring structure comprises a support member which is mounted on the side portion of the vehicle seat and which is formed with an elongated opening. A guide member has a finger portion which projects toward the inside of the support member through the opening. The finger portion is movable within the opening and abuttingly engageable with the end walls of the opening to limit the extent of swinging movement of the self-standing seat belt unit.
A pivotal attaching device for a linkage cam lever which is pivotally attached to one end of a rod so that a lever can be pivoted by a shaft. The device is comprised of a securing portion for securing the shaft to one end of the rod, and a forked leaf spring portion including a pair of integrally formed spring pieces connected to the securing portion and maintaining a space therebetween. The securing portion and forked leaf spring portion are integrally molded of plastic with formed openings for receiving and securing the end of the rod, and further including receiving and securing the end of the rod, and further including integral clip portions to maintain the device in a secure fashion around the end of the rod.
