Abstract
A new class of compounds: R--W--R' where R and R' are identical oxy radicals containing peroxide functions such as dialkyl or diaralkyl peroxide, peroxyketal, peroxyester, or monoperoxycarbonate, and W is a carbonyl group, or carbonyl containing group, or an alkylidene or aralkylidene group, or a phosphorus containing group. Examples: Di[1,3-dimethyl-3-(t-butylperoxy)butyl] carbonate; Di[1,3-dimethyl-3-(n-butoxycarbonylperoxy)butyl] carbonate; 2,2-Bis[3,3-di(t-butylperoxy)butoxy] propane; Di[1,3-dimethyl-3-(t-butylperoxy)butyl] ethyl phosphate. They are free radical affording compounds useful in crosslinking of polyolefins and unsaturated polymers, and for the polymerization of vinyl monomers and diolefinic monomers.

4455412 - Process for polymerization using monoperoxyoxalic acid diesters - Owned by ICI Australia Limited (Melbourne,AU)

The invention concerns a process for the polymerization of vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) using as initiator a diester of monoperoxyoxalic acid. The initiators are highly active and the process provides a method for the efficient polymerization of VCM at lower temperatures and/or for shorter reaction times than can be achieved with the current commercially available catalysts.

4271279 - Cyclic perketals and their use for cross-linking high density polyethylene - Owned by Argus Chemical Corporation (Brooklyn, NY)

High density polyethylene is cross-linked with certain cyclic perketals including a group of novel cyclic perketals. Typical of the novel molecules is 3,6,6,9,9-pentamethyl-3-ethylacetate-1,2,4,5-tetraoxy cyclononane.

5866712 - Oxalic acid peroxide compositions and uses - Owned by ELF Atochem North America, Inc. (Philadelphia, PA)

A novel peroxide composition of Structure A, ##STR1## and use of the novel oxalic acid peroxide composition of Structure A as an initiator; a) for curing of unsaturated polyester resins, b) for polymerizing ethylenically unsaturated monomers, c) for crosslinking of polyolefins, d) for curing of elastomers, e) for modifying polyolefins, f) for grafting of vinyl monomers onto polymer backbones and g) for compatibilizing blends of two or more incompatible polymers are disclosed.

6770774 - Peroxides, their preparation process and use - Owned by Akzo Nobel N.V. (Arnhem,NL)

The invention relates to a preparation process for making peroxy esters and peroxy carbonates, peroxy ester peroxy carbonates, mixed diperoxides, mixed diperoxy esters, and mixed diperoxy carbonates, and to specific monoperoxy esters, monoperoxy carbonates, mixed peroxides, mixed diperoxy esters, mixed diperoxy carbonates, peroxy ester peroxy carbonates, and mixtures thereof. The process involves the reaction of a type-3 ketone peroxide with a reactive carbonyl compound and optional subsequent reaction with an alkyl vinyl ether, acetal, halogen formate, or carboxylic acid anhydride.

4677654 - Carrying case for cellular telephone unit

A carrying case for a cellular telephone unit which would facilitate the portability of the telephone. The carrying case is relatively compact in nature and the interior of the case is provided with a cover and a plurality of specially designed brackets to conceal and/or anchor the cellular telephone unit consisting primarily of a transceiver, a battery and battery charging circuit, and a handset.
