Benzofuran derivatives of the general formula: ##SPC1## And their pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts having superior pharmacological activities for diseases in circulatory system or peripheral nervous system, and method for the preparation of the said benzofuran derivatives.
The present invention relates, as new industrial products, to (.+-.)-, (+)- and (-)-2,4-diacetyl-5-(3-alkyl-amino-2-hydroxy-propyloxy)-benzofurans of general formula: ##STR1## where R is CH(CH.sub.3).sub.2 or C(CH.sub.3).sub.3, and to their acid addition salts. These products are useful in therapeutics, particularly as cardioselective beta-blocking agents.
Amine represented by the following formula (1), or their acid addition salts or their quaternary ammonium salts. ##STR1## The amines of formula (1) or their pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts or quaternary ammonium salts are useful for the treatment and prevention of heart diseases of animals, particularly arrhythima, myocardial infarction, angina pectoris and heart failure and psychoneurological diseases.
