An odorless aqueous solution for permanent cold waving or straightening of hair which contains an acidic metal bisulphite, an alkali metal borate and an alkali metal carbonate in combination with alkanol amines and a wetting agent.
RELATED APPLICATION
This application is a continuation in part application of a co-pending application Ser. No. 356,159 filed Apr. 1, 1973 for A Solution for Permanent or Cold Waving or Straightening of Hair, and which is now abandoned.
An intermediate treatment composition for permanent wave, comprising at least one carbonate and/or at least one hydrogencarbonate. When the hair is treated with the intermediate treatment composition for permanent wave between treatments with the first and second compositions, mixed disulfides formed in the hair by the treatment with the first composition can be cleaved. Therefore, the wave-forming rate can be enhanced, and damage to the hair can also be prevented.
Methods for preparing hair relaxer compositions which comprise a lithium salt and an alkaline earth hydroxide, wherein the lithium salt is in molar excess to the alkaline earth hydroxide. Compositions, kits containing the compositions, and methods for using the compositions are also disclosed.
A heat generating hair permanent composition is disclosed. The composition has a pH of about 6.8 to 10. It is the reaction product of a mixture of about 6 to 10 parts of an aqueous hair reducing composition containing from 5 to 20 weight percent reducing agent with about 0.5 to 3 parts of an aqueous oxidizing solution which contains 1 to 6 weight percent hydrogen peroxide.
A permanent waving process is disclosed in which an essential oil is incorporated into hair fibers. The incorporated of the essential oil into the hair fiber not only provides capacity to remove bad odors resulting from freshly permanent waved hair but also gives to the hair a supple and smooth feeling. The essential oil is incorporated in the oxidizing or neutralizing solution of the permanent waving process. The essential oils employed are those containing at least one component, ingredient or constituent having an ethylenically unsaturated bond, i.e. ##STR1##
A developer liquid for image-wise exposed radiation sensitive compositions comprises ethyl hexyl sulphate, a surfactant, and alkaline material such that the pH is al least 12 and preferably at least 13.5. The developer liquid may additionally include a water soluble carboxylic acid salt such as sodium octanoate and the sodium salt of ethylene diamine tetra acetic acid. Such developer liquids can be formulated for use with both positive-working and negative-working compositions.
