Abstract
A hitch pin comprising an elongated pin element having a head portion adjacent one end thereof and a transverse bore formed therein adjacent the other end thereof. A C-shaped actuator element is pivotally connected at one end thereof to the pin element adjacent the upper end thereof. A spring retainer clip is connected to the other end of the C-shaped actuator element and comprises a shank portion which is adapted to extend through the bore. The clip also comprises an arcuate portion which yieldably embraces the pin element adjacent the bore. An elongated flexible member such as a rope or the like is connected to the actuator element so that longitudinal movement of the flexible member in a upwardly direction will pivotally move the actuator element to cause the clip to be detached from the pin element.

6145866 - Hitch pin with locking lever - Owned by LockeasE Corporation (Hicksville, OH)

A hitch pin for connecting a drawn vehicle to a towing vehicle. The hitch pin includes a pin having a lower end and a transverse collar near its upper end, a handle mounting member extending upwardly at the upper end, and a handle pivotally connecting to the handle mounting member at an axis. The handle includes a pivot portion having a locking lever biased from pivoting downwardly and a latch portion. A first embodiment of the present invention includes the handle mounting member having two opposing flanges with flat inner surfaces and the pivot portion having flat sides such that pivot portion pivotally connects to the mounting member with the sides respectively facing the inner surfaces. A second embodiment thereof includes the handle mounting member having flat sides and the pivot portion having two opposing flanges with flat inner surfaces such that pivot portion pivotally connects to the mounting member with sides respectively facing the inner surfaces. When the handle connects to the handle mounting member, the locking lever engages a notch formed on the handle mounting member and the latch portion engages the lower end of the pin, defining a locked position of the hitch pin. When pressure is applied downwardly against the locking lever, the locking lever pivots downwardly such that it clears the notch, disengaging the latch portion from the lower end and allowing pivotal movement of the handle about the axis.

4671528 - Safety hitch pin

A safety hitch pin having an enlarged upper end or head that is adapted to rest upon apertured parts secured by the pin. An annular retention device or keeper adapted to receive the lower end of the pin therethrough is provided that has a retainer chain attached. The free end of the chain and enlarged upper end of the pin are provided with parts that are adapted to coact so that a selected portion of the chain can be releasably secured to the upper end or head portion of the hitch pin.

4555125 - Safety hitch pin

A self-locking, safety hitch pin for connecting the tongue of a farm implement to the drawbar of a towing vehicle, such as a tractor. The pin has a handle pivotally connected to it at its upper end, the handle extending to the lower end of the pin to prevent it from inadvertently falling out of the connection. A spring-biased locking member is combined with the upper end of the handle and pin to automatically lock the handle in place when the handle is lowered to a closed position.

4526396 - Lockable hitch pin

A hitch pin comprising a cylindrical shaft portion, a head portion, a generally "C" shaped latch arm pivotally attached at one end to said head portion, said arm being rotatable between a closed position wherein the opposite end of said arm is positioned adjacent the bottom end of said shaft portion and an opened end wherein said other end has been swung away from the bottom of said shaft portion, and means positioned within said head portion for locking said arm in either of said opened position or said closed position, said means comprising a spring biased, spherical cam follower acting against a cam surface defined at the pivotal end of said arm and having a curved first portion and an outwardly extending, upwardly projecting planar second surface. The "C" shaped arms has means associated with it for remotely activicating said arm from a closed position to an opened position.

4890854 - Hitch pin

An improved hitch pin assembly for releasably connecting a towed vehicle to a towing vehicle is disclosed. The hitch pin assembly includes a shaft and a generally C-shaped retaining arm, one end of which is pivotally supported at the top of the shaft for rotation between a first position in which it locks the pin in place in service and a second position in which it does not interfere with the removal of the pin. A magnet is positioned on the pin to retain the arm in the first position under most service conditions. The other end of the C-shaped arm includes a foot portion or guide bars to restrict that end from lateral movement relative to the shaft.
