A toy block of specially chosen dimensions, construction, shape, and weight so as to be ideally suited for stacking, balancing, and tumbling in such a way as to teach concepts of weight, counterweight, balance, friction, levers, inertia, and momentum. Additional concepts in the field of electronics may be taught through analogies drawn between the block constructions and various electronic components.
An amusement device of pictorial display including a base member with markings thereon depicting an object and with the markings being located in rows for identifying locations of elongated blocks which are standable on end along the rows. The blocks can be tipped in the direction of their rows and thereby sequentially knock each other over and form rows of blocks laying on each other to thereby present a three-dimensional display of the object depicted on the base member.
A set of dominoes is disclosed which can be used for a three-dimensional domino game. The indicia on the top surface of the dominoes are in the form of raised pegs, and each domino has a socket on its under surface directly below and complementary to each raised peg on the top surface. The dominoes can be used for a three-dimensional game in which dominoes are placed next to each other on the same level or on top of each other where the sockets of the upper domino receive all of the pegs directly below it.
A structure-forming construction element for a toy log building set, such as those sold under the well known "Lincoln Logs". The construction element, typically a molding of plastic material, is formed with a plurality of adjacent sockets for the reception and gripping of log elements in parallel, side-by-side relation. In a typical form, the construction element is positioned on a support, and the log elements are oriented vertically in the sockets provided. A second, similar construction element may be placed on top of the upper ends of the logs. Side walls of the sockets can be notched to provide a castellated appearance, such that a structure with vertically spaced construction elements and vertical log elements has the appearance of a castle tower.
