Octenol ether copper.sup.(I) lithium reagents which are useful in preparing prostaglandin derivatives and methods of preparing such reagents and methods of preparing prostaglandin derivatives using such reagents. The prostaglandin derivatives exhibit prostaglandin-like pharmacological properties and thus are useful where such agents are indicated.
Novel 5',6'-dihydro-2H-pyran-4'-yl prostaglandin ether compounds of the formula ##SPC1## Wherein R.sub.1 is hydrogen or lower alkyl; R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are hydrogen when Y is a single bond and R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are absent when Y is a double bond; R.sub.4 is ##SPC2## R.sub.5 is hydrogen or ##SPC3## C.sub.1 is >C=O, ##EQU1## C.sub.2 is >C--H when X is a double bond; and C.sub.2 is ##EQU2## when X is a single bond; ##EQU3## when X is a double bond and ##EQU4## when X is a single bond; Z.sub.1 is a cis or trans --CH=CH-- or --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 --; Z.sub.2 is trans --CH=CH-- or --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 --; n is 1 to 5; m is 0 to 5; and the non-toxic salts. The novel compounds possess pharmacological properties as modifiers of smooth muscle activity, gastric secretion, blood pressure, lipolysis and the reproductive system. The compounds also induce labor and menses and they can be used for the relief of asthma and nasal congestion and as platelet anti-aggregation agents.
Methylenecyclopentane derivatives, for example ##STR1## wherein R.sub.2 is a blocking group such as tetrahydropyranyl, and a process for preparing them; said derivatives having utility as prostaglandin intermediates.

A glazing/window assembly with reduced ultraviolet (UV) radiation transmission may include at least a pair of glass panels or other elements confining an electrochromic medium therebetween. Ultraviolet radiation reducing material is incorporated for reducing ultraviolet radiation transmission through the assembly. The ultraviolet radiation reducing material comprises at least one of an ultraviolet absorber, an ultraviolet absorbing polymer, and an ultraviolet absorbing glass. At least one of a laminated glass panel, tempered glass panel and a polymeric layer is provided to prevent injury upon impact to the assembly. A color tint may be included in the assembly to provide a tint to transmitted light.
